Job Description

This hiring establishment operates within the hospitality industry, specifically managing a fine dining or high-volume restaurant environment. Known for its commitment to superior guest experiences and precise service flow, the restaurant supports a collaborative team atmosphere where all roles contribute to a wholesome dining experience. This restaurant environment seeks candidates passionate about food service and eager to develop their skills within a dynamic and often fast-paced setting. The company is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to maintaining a drug-free workplace and requires pre-employment substance abuse testing to ensure the safety and quality of service.

The Server Assistant position in this restaurant plays a vital support role focusing on the seamless connection between kitchen operations and guest service. This position is essential to the smooth delivery of food items from preparation to the diner’s table, ensuring that all dishes arrive promptly, accurately, and with professional presentation. As a food runner and key team support member, the Server Assistant handles the critical task of maintaining flow and timing in food service. They act as a primary liaison between culinary staff and front-of-house servers, verifying the accuracy and presentation of dishes before they reach guests.

Candidates for this role typically have entry-level experience in the restaurant industry, equipped with a strong sense of urgency and exceptional teamwork skills. This position demands high attention to detail and the ability to operate efficiently under pressure, especially during peak service times. In addition to food running, the Server Assistant is responsible for maintaining the readiness and organization of the expo station, including managing utensils, condiments, and clean serving ware to support continuous service flow.

Furthermore, the role involves assisting with overall service standards and maintaining a clean and compliant environment per health and safety regulations. This includes general cleaning duties and attending team meetings for ongoing training. The Server Assistant role is structured as a developmental opportunity, ideal for those aiming to advance within the front-of-house hierarchy, potentially moving into roles like Captain Assistant.

Successful Server Assistants work closely with multiple internal teams including Captains, Servers, Bartenders, Culinary staff, and Stewarding teams, ensuring cohesive operations and customer satisfaction. While this position has limited direct guest interaction, a professional demeanor and exemplary service etiquette are necessary to uphold the restaurant’s service standards and guest experience.

Employment type typically includes part-time or full-time shifts, with compensation commensurate with experience and local industry standards. This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift and carry significant weight, navigate crowded dining spaces, and maintain stamina throughout service periods. The restaurant prefers candidates who have prior experience in comparable roles and certifications such as CPR or First Aid, emphasizing safety and readiness in all team members.
