Job Description
This employment opportunity is with a reputable company dedicated to maintaining high standards in packaging and product handling. The company places a strong emphasis on quality control, teamwork, and safety, ensuring that every employee adheres to strict procedures to meet their organizational goals. Known for fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment, the company complies with federal employment laws and promotes equal opportunity for protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. This role is vital in supporting the packaging line’s success through precision, attention to detail, and collaboration with other team members. Reasonable accommodations are available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions effectively.
The role primarily involves working as a Packer Level I on the packing line, where understanding and correctly demonstrating procedures related to packing cards (referred to as Balcip) is crucial. Tasks include orientation of cards in boxes, card jogging procedures, and final quality and collating verification to ensure compliance with company standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the Packer Level II, taking direction on product and line assignments as well as the packing pace. During the setup operation, the role involves de-staging previous jobs by returning unused packing materials and organizing the supplies for the next job. Throughout the run operation, careful checks are required to verify the correct card, count, carton, orientation, and overall quality.
This role requires teamwork and motivation even on intensive packing jobs and familiarity with the products being packed. Responsibilities also include organizing and sorting products by specifications such as size or color, comparing items to sample products for quality assurance, and inspecting collating marks to maintain consistency. Attention to detail is essential to avoid errors such as mixing up cards or failing to pack uniformly. The packer will be responsible for labeling and signing finished blister card boxes with inspection tags or stamps to certify their accuracy and completeness.
An important part of the role is recognizing and responding to any detected problems by escalating them to the Packer Level II or quality control personnel. Understanding line stop procedures and meeting packing line metrics and goals is also mandatory. The use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection is enforced to maintain a safe work environment. Additionally, daily end-of-shift duties will be completed as assigned to ensure smooth transitions and readiness for subsequent shifts.
This role values employees who can transition to working independently without constant supervision and show consistent improvement in speed and efficiency, keeping up with the packing line demands. There is potential for career advancement into a Packer Level II position for those who demonstrate interest and capability. The company enforces a commitment to diversity, equal opportunity, and legal compliance with federal employment regulations, offering a supportive setting for individuals with disabilities and protected veterans to contribute meaningfully to the team.
