Job Description

Novolex is a prominent manufacturer specializing in food, beverage, and specialty packaging solutions that cater to a wide array of industries such as foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, and industrial sectors. The company leverages extensive manufacturing and sourcing expertise across various substrates, including resin, paper, molded fiber, and aluminum, ensuring high-quality and innovative packaging products. With an extensive catalog featuring 120 product categories, 250 brands, and over 39,000 SKUs, Novolex is committed to providing both stock and highly customized packaging solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of its customers.

Novolex's dedication to sustainability is fundamental to its operations, emphasizing a three-pillar strategy involving their products, operations, and people. These pillars underpin the company's continuous efforts to implement wide-ranging initiatives aimed at achieving ambitious sustainability goals. This commitment not only enhances the environmental impact but also ensures Novolex’s growth and long-term resilience in an evolving market.

Novolex, through its affiliate Pactiv Evergreen, is currently recruiting Packers for the Kalamazoo plant to further support its manufacturing capabilities. This role is ideally suited for individuals eager to start or advance their career in manufacturing, particularly within a leading packaging company noted for its commitment to quality and sustainability. The position involves inspecting and packaging products, ensuring that all items meet the rigorous standards set by the Pactiv Evergreen Quality Department. Packers work independently while coordinating with line technicians and other internal partners, rotating among production lines as directed by the Team Leader.

The available shifts include days from 5:20 AM to 5:30 PM and nights from 5:20 PM to 5:30 AM, each with three paid breaks. The work schedule operates on a two-week rotation pattern that balances workdays and off days, providing employees with structured time off, which enhances work-life balance.

The starting pay for this role is competitive at $19.32 per hour, reflecting Novolex's recognition of the importance of fair compensation for its workforce. The company emphasizes a safe, clean, and friendly work environment, fostering teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety standards. Packers are responsible for visually inspecting products, meeting daily production targets, packing products without mixing different items, and ensuring that packaging and case identification comply with customer and company specifications.

The position also involves responsibilities like assisting with scrap material grinding, helping train new employees, maintaining ISO-compliant processes, and participating actively in safety programs. It requires physical stamina, including standing and walking during shifts, lifting up to 50 pounds, and climbing, all while adhering to established safety protocols.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent experience, with the ability to read and understand specifications and safety information. Novolex fosters employee growth with numerous training and development opportunities, including programs accessible through MyLearning, tuition reimbursement for non-union employees, and advanced education support. The company also maintains strong community engagement programs, focusing on sustainability and addressing food and hunger issues locally.

Novolex is an equal opportunity employer, committed to inclusivity and accessibility, providing accommodations for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. Formerly known as Pactiv Evergreen, Novolex continues to build on its legacy of quality, innovation, and community focus, offering employees a rewarding and stable career path in the packaging manufacturing industry.
