Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent or one year of commercial driving experience
- Valid CA Class C driver’s license required
- Class B license preferred
- No violations within the last five years
- Documentation of Basic Life Support and First Aid certification required within 90 days of hire
- Ability to operate mid to large size vehicles
- General automobile mechanic knowledge
- Ability to work flexible hours Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Knowledge of assisting special-needs or mobility-limited individuals preferred
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent or one year of commercial driving experience
- Valid California Class C driver's license required, Class B preferred
- Documentation of Basic Life Support and First Aid within 90 days of hire
- Ability to operate mid to large size vehicle and general automobile mechanic knowledge
- Ability to work flexible hours including Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays
- Strong communication skills with staff and participants
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of assisting special-needs populations including individuals with mobility limitations preferred
- Experience in transporting passengers preferred
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics assisting seniors and persons with mobility limitations preferred
- Experience working with elderly and special needs populations including individuals with Dementia preferred
- Fluency in English with preferred fluency in Chinese, Vietnamese, or Spanish
- Fluency in other languages is an asset
Job Duties
- Safely and efficiently transports participants, medications, meals, medical supplies and equipment, laundry or other approved items between home and the PACE center, NEMS clinics, and other medical locations
- Safely assists participants in boarding and disembarking NEMS vehicles according to the care plan and ensures use of safety belts, wheelchair tie-downs, and other equipment
- Observes and promptly reports any safety or behavioral issues, assistance needs, or other factors affecting quality, timeliness, and safety of transport and deliveries to the interdisciplinary team
- Maintains the vehicle's first aid kit and fire extinguisher by replenishing supplies or replacing before expiration
- Ensures NEMS vehicles are in good mechanical condition with clean and presentable interiors and exteriors
- Recognizes and addresses vehicle malfunctions and safety risks, replenishes fuel and fluids as needed, and reports vehicle problems or incidents to the supervisor
- Establishes positive rapport with participants, their families, caregivers, and the care team
- Utilizes Epic software efficiently, serving as content and workflow expert for issue resolution and solution proposals
- Maintains accurate daily records, vehicle maintenance logs, inspection reports, route details, and fuel records
- Participates in planning and revising transportation routes for efficiency
- Attends interdisciplinary team meetings when indicated
- Reports participant safety or behavioral issues and other concerns impacting transport or delivery services
- Performs additional duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
