Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • must possess or obtain valid food handlers permit within 30 days of employment
  • must possess or obtain Tips and Sips alcohol service permit within 30 days of employment
  • must take and pass DABC Manager Training and submit fingerprints
  • ability to stand for long periods, walk extensively, and use hands dexterously
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • must have working knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email
  • flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • background check and fingerprint clearance required
  • ability to provide supervisory leadership and train staff
  • able to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and team members

Job Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, internet navigation and electronic mail
  • valid food handlers permit or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Tips and Sips alcohol service permit or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • completion of DABC Manager Training and fingerprint submission
  • ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk or hear, and taste or smell regularly
  • occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • ability to lift regularly up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
  • specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • must be 21 years of age or older

Job Duties

  • Warmly greet all Owl Bar patrons
  • collect accurate payment for drinks
  • maintain a balanced bank
  • perform opening and closing side work for efficient, professional service
  • pass background check including fingerprints and hold TIPS and SIPS training certificates as required by DABC
  • understand and comply with Utah liquor laws and ensure all bar staff have required licensing
  • assist with tracking and documenting licenses and certifications
  • responsibly serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with laws, policies, and procedures
  • collaborate with manager on developing wine, price and specialty drink lists
  • supervise and train bartenders, test them on wine and drink knowledge, and schedule employees in manager's absence
  • exhibit job and product knowledge to provide guests with accurate information about food and alcohol service
  • assist manager with liquor, beer, and wine inventory
  • order all alcohol
  • control liquor and alcohol costs
  • ensure bar is set and ready for service to Sundance standards
  • complete opening and closing responsibilities
  • ensure proper service sequence for all guests
  • inform guests of daily specials and recommendations
  • enter orders using proper table and seat numbers
  • attend regular trainings on drinks and service standards
  • learn all bar and Foundry Grill menus
  • prepare and serve drinks, serve food over bar counter
  • assist servers when necessary
  • set up and stock bar
  • keep bar clean and organized
  • stock beer, wine, juices, liquor, and fruit
  • change draft beer kegs
  • share Owl Bar history with guests
  • wash and buff glassware
  • transport dirty dishes to kitchen dishwasher
  • gather wood and build fire when appropriate
  • ensure Owl logo merchandise is stocked
  • manage weekly dry storage orders
  • assist with inventory
  • manage payroll and tips for shift in charge
  • maintain floor presence and support bar and service staff
  • ensure menus are freshly printed
