Job Requirements

Current unrestricted veterinary technician license as required by state
Minimum of 1 year experience in emergency or critical care veterinary settings
Ability to work flexible shifts including nights weekends and holidays
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
Capacity to work in a fast-paced emergency environment
Authorization to work legally in the U.S.

Job Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program
Certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent
Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques and emergency patient care
Proficiency in phlebotomy and intravenous catheter placement
Experience in digital radiography and patient monitoring
Ability to mentor and train co-workers
Excellent communication skills including empathy with clients

Job Duties

Induce monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia monitoring equipment
Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate respiratory rate and blood pressure
Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate temperature blood pressure and oxygen saturation
Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
Properly calculate medical math including constant rate infusions and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
