Job Description
SCA is a company that specializes in providing comprehensive general labor services, focusing strongly on support roles that involve cleaning, maintenance, and operational tasks critical to business efficiency and safety. Operating within the context of environmental upkeep and transportation-related services, SCA has built a reputation for its commitment to quality service and employee welfare. The organization values hard work, reliability, and professionalism, making it an attractive employer for individuals seeking steady, hands-on employment within a supportive team environment. The company is dedicated to providing its workforce with not only competitive compensation but also a range of benefits aimed at enhancing the overall employment experience and fostering career growth.
The role of the Overnight Porter (Non-CDL) at SCA's St. Peters, MO location is a full-time position designed to operate primarily during the 3rd shift, from 8 PM to 6 AM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts as business needs dictate. This role is integral to supporting general labor services that include tasks such as litter removal and cleaning along predetermined routes. The primary responsibility of this position is to operate a pick-up truck safely and efficiently, navigating different stops on a scheduled route to collect trash along highways and maintain assigned areas. The Overnight Porter must complete all assigned jobs within specified time limits, contributing significantly to roadside cleanliness and community safety.
Beyond the core picking up of trash, this position requires a proactive approach to various labor duties assigned by the team lead. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness not only in outdoor locations but also ensuring trucks and support equipment are clean and in good condition. Additionally, the Overnight Porter’s duties extend to maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the shop and yard area used by the maintenance team. Another crucial aspect of the role includes power washing assigned equipment or sites as needed and conducting basic mechanical tasks such as greasing trucks, which help keep the entire fleet operating smoothly and minimize downtime.
Safety and reliability are paramount in this role. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record to ensure the safe operation of company vehicles. The role demands sufficient physical ability to perform tasks including moderate lifting—up to 40 pounds—standing for full shifts, walking, climbing stairs, and bending as needed. This physically active job requires endurance and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, making it suitable for individuals who enjoy an active, task-oriented work setting.
SCA offers competitive compensation for the Overnight Porter position at a rate of $22.00 per hour, with the added incentive of a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000, subject to certain conditions. The company emphasizes its comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, alongside a 401(k) retirement plan. Additional perks include company-paid life insurance and a variety of voluntary benefits such as short-term and long-term disability insurance, accident and critical illness insurance, and supplemental life insurance, providing employees with extensive protection and peace of mind.
Employees benefit from paid vacation time and holidays, weekly pay, and the innovative option of On Demand Pay through Ceridian Dayforce, allowing workers to access their earnings as they accumulate them. Furthermore, SCA supports career advancement opportunities, encouraging employees to grow professionally within the company. This employment opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking consistent overnight work with structured shifts, meaningful responsibilities, and a strong support system from the employer.
