Job Description

Eataly is the world's largest artisanal Italian food and beverage marketplace, renowned for its dedication to authentic Italian cuisine and culture. Unlike a chain, each Eataly location is unique, with its own character and theme that reflect the local environment while maintaining the brand's commitment to quality and tradition. Eataly offers guests an immersive experience where they can eat genuine Italian food at various restaurants, cafes, and to-go counters, shop an extensive selection of high-quality Italian, local, and homemade products, and learn about Italian culinary arts through specialized classes and knowledgeable team members. The company is celebrated for blending education, shopping, and dining into a single destination that brings the essence of Italy to life for its customers worldwide.

Within this vibrant setting, Eataly's bakery operates 24 hours a day, providing fresh, handcrafted breads and focaccia that uphold traditional Italian recipes. The Bread Baker role is a vital position within this bakery, charged with producing delicious and authentic bread products for Eataly’s restaurants and retail outlets. Reporting directly to the Bakery Manager, the Bread Baker is responsible for preparing a variety of bread items, including focaccia, rolls, and other specialties, using precise proofing and baking techniques. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with Department of Health standards is essential to ensure food safety and customer satisfaction. The role demands a commitment to mastering all shifts and production processes, and occasionally assisting Sales Associates while engaging with guests who are interested in learning more about the bakery’s artisanal bread-making methods.

This position offers an hourly wage of $20.00 and requires candidates to have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, along with over a year of experience in a baker preparation role. Ideal candidates will possess basic math and measuring skills, a strong work ethic, effective communication, and time management abilities. While not mandatory, a post-secondary culinary program is highly preferred to enhance skill development and knowledge. The Bread Baker must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and sustaining well-paced mobility through standing, walking, bending, and squatting for long periods. The role also involves operating a wood-burning oven, electric pizza convection oven, and commercial spiral mixer, demonstrating the importance of both technical skill and physical stamina.

Eataly values flexibility and employee dedication, requiring availability for on-site work with open and adaptable schedules that often include evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts. Beyond the rewarding work environment and competitive pay, Eataly provides an excellent benefits package to support its employees' well-being and professional growth. This includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, and retirement savings plans such as a 401K with match or RRSP. Furthermore, employees enjoy additional perks such as a bonus program, free family meals daily, discounts at Eataly, access to classes on Italian cuisine and products, and referral bonus programs.

Joining Eataly as a Bread Baker means becoming part of a passionate team that celebrates artisanal food craftsmanship, Italian culinary heritage, and a high standard of food excellence. Those who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and appreciate authentic food production will find this role both fulfilling and inspiring. Eataly not only fosters employees’ career development but invites them to be ambassadors of Italian culture through the art of bread making, contributing directly to the exceptional guest experience that defines the brand.
