Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for entire shift of 4-8 hours
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn and follow company safety and sanitation procedures
- For internal candidates, minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred for store teammates
- For internal candidates, minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred for store support center teammates
- Must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline
- Manager approval required for interview if invited, based on performance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in baking or food preparation is desirable
- Ability to follow recipes and baking instructions accurately
- Customer service skills
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Basic math skills for measuring and portioning ingredients
Job Duties
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
- Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job
- Assist customers with product selections, including suggestive selling
- Process incoming products from bakery plant and direct store delivery vendors
- Prepare breads, rolls, doughnuts, and other pastries, including icings and frostings, according to established recipes
- Cut and weigh dough into uniform portions with knife or divider, mold dough into loaves or other shapes, and place in pans
- Proof dough and bake in oven using peel
- Inspect product for quality during and after baking and make adjustments to process as required
- Review production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake and assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activities
- Package fresh-baked products
- Slice and wrap fresh baked bread
- Stock product displays in cases and on shelves
- Rotate product and straighten displays
- Prepare out-dated product for thrift stores
- Bake cookies
- Record inventory of supplies and order stock from main storeroom
- Complete production sheets and other records as required
- Constantly clean work area and equipment following company safety and sanitation procedures
- Other duties will be assigned at the discretion of the store management
