Job Description
Interim, Inc. is a dedicated social service organization based in Monterey, California, committed to providing supportive services and affordable housing to individuals living with mental illness. With a mission centered on helping individuals build productive and satisfying lives, Interim strives to create a world in which people with mental illnesses can fully live, work, learn, and participate in their communities. Serving the community with compassion and respect, Interim offers diverse programs and opportunities to promote recovery and social rehabilitation for adults facing psychiatric disabilities and associated challenges. The organization's approach balances clinical excellence with a strong commitment to client-centered care, ensuring that individuals not only receive needed support but also the dignity and hope required for long-term well-being.
The Overnight (Awake) Counselor IC position is a vital role offering overnight care and supervision for residents undergoing mental health crises within a residential setting. This role demands a compassionate and vigilant individual who can maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment during the overnight hours, typically from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The Overnight Counselor is responsible for direct client engagement, crisis intervention, medication assistance, and documenting client interactions and incidents accurately in electronic health records (EHR). Candidates will work closely under the supervision of the Program Director or designee and collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team committed to promoting resident safety and well-being.
This position is nonexempt, scheduled for 33 hours per week, and offers competitive compensation ranging from $24.17 to $31.48 per hour, with additional hourly pay incentives available for working at licensed sites. The compensation package reflects the candidate's education and experience and includes eligibility for overtime. Responsibilities include conducting intakes and risk assessments, crisis response, informal counseling, medication administration support, and performing light administrative and housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and functional residential environment. The role also requires documenting accurately in daily logs, managing medication inventories, and engaging in regular communication with team members regarding client status and program matters.
Working at Interim offers a fulfilling career path with a family-centered focus and strong work-life balance. Employees benefit from numerous supportive offerings such as tuition reimbursement, clinical licenses, training reimbursements, loan repayment options for eligible roles, and a comprehensive health benefits package inclusive of medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program. A 403b retirement plan with matching contributions, competitive vacation and sick leave accrual, flexible work schedules, professional development opportunities, and onsite BBS registered supervisors for clinical supervision further contribute to a rewarding work environment.
Those who join Interim find themselves part of a mission-driven team making a difference in the lives of individuals with mental illness, helping them regain independence and community integration. The Overnight Counselor IC works in a critical support role, helping to create a safe space overnight that fosters healing and hope for residents facing acute mental health challenges. This position is ideal for compassionate, responsible, and flexible individuals committed to social rehabilitation and mental health support.
