The Production Operator II role at Flowers Foods is a critical position within the team-oriented production process. This full-time role involves operating automated production equipment, diagnosing machinery issues, supporting preventative maintenance, and ensuring the sanitary upkeep of all related equipment. The position demands a strong commitment to safety—for both the individual and fellow technicians—and requires proficiency in Enterprise software applications for data input, retrieval, reporting, and other production and financial system interactions. This role demands competency in all tasks that might impact product safety, legality, or quality, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a highly functioning team.
Physically, the Production Operator II must have the capability to perform tasks that include frequent stooping, bending, and lifting weights ranging from 20 to 50 pounds, with occasional assistance for heavier lifting up to 120 pounds. The operator must be able to climb fixed and portable ladders up to 20 feet, often while carrying up to 20 pounds, and must be able to push or pull wheeled carts weighing several hundred pounds over considerable distances. Additionally, the operator will be responsible for machine setup, monitoring, and adjustment to maintain optimal production flow and product quality, including operating facility metal detectors where required.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalency
- successful completion of a technical certification course such as HVAC or auto maintenance/repair
- equivalent military training or other related technical training
- successful completion of at least 45 college credit hours may substitute for technical training
- ability to routinely stoop, bend and lift 20 to 50 pounds
- ability to occasionally lift dough modules up to 120 pounds with assistance
- ability to climb fixed and portable ladders between 10 and 20 feet while carrying up to 20 pounds
- ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing 400 to 500 pounds over distances of 150 to 300 feet
- ability to assist in moving wheeled container weighing up to 2400 pounds a distance of 50 feet
- ability to maintain safe work environment
- ability to operate multiple types of production equipment following safety procedures and company standards
Job Qualifications
- two or more years of related experience
- high school diploma or equivalency
- successful completion of a technical certification course or equivalent military training
- ability to master use of Enterprise software for production and financial systems
- demonstration of competency affecting product safety, legality, or quality
- ability to act as a member of a highly functioning team
Job Duties
- check and adhere to production work schedule for job assignments and work reporting times
- ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
- perform duties including fulfillment of work schedules and adherence to attendance policies
- maintain cleanliness of work area at all times
- operate facility metal detector after full training and certification
- comply with work rules, safety rules and GMPs
- set up equipment following all established procedures and safety guidelines
- ensure continuous, efficient flow of materials through assigned equipment
- verify product quality meets required standards throughout operation
- make necessary adjustments to equipment to maintain proper performance and production speeds
- remove defective product and ensure only compliant product advances
- maintain clean and organized work areas following sanitation requirements
- complete required documentation and system entries accurately and on time
