The Sales and Marketing role at Abacus Distributing is a dynamic opportunity for a motivated and knowledgeable individual to join their team. This position focuses on servicing existing chain accounts and aggressively developing new accounts within the assigned sales territory, which includes Natick, Newton, Needham, and various key districts in Boston such as Backbay, Downtown, Seaport, and West End. The role demands a strong ability to engage with both retail and restaurant clients, leveraging product knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain robust customer relationships.

Ideal candidates for this position will have a foundational understanding of wine and spirits, with a preference for those who possess prior experience in retail liquor sales. The role also emphasizes the expansion of Abacus Distributing's Asian product portfolio, including the fast-growing brand Hodori, showcasing a unique opportunity to work with trendy and culturally significant beverage lines. The sales representative will be tasked with product presentations, tastings, and promotional events designed to increase market penetration and maximize sales performance.

This full-time role offers a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary, commission, and a bonus structure. The bonus program is performance-based, featuring weekly and quarterly incentives to reward high achievers. Additionally, the company provides monthly expense reimbursement up to $400 to support sales activities. Candidates are expected to be self-starters with excellent time management skills and a persistent drive to exceed sales goals. Strong follow-up skills and a proactive approach to finding new sales opportunities are essential traits for success in this role. Candidates must reside in Massachusetts and be physically capable of handling product displays involving cases weighing up to 35 pounds.

Job Duties

  • Acquire and demonstrate product knowledge and effectively present products to accounts
  • meet sales expectations on a weekly basis without constant management supervision
  • provide daily and monthly reports as required
  • attend weekly meetings and training sessions
  • perform product demonstrations or tastings as required to promote sales
