With a strong presence in municipal recycling and waste reduction programs, WM partners with communities to deliver innovative, reliable, and user-friendly recycling and composting services. The company serves cities and municipalities across the United States, offering comprehensive solutions aimed at reducing waste impact and promoting environmental stewardship. WM’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its use of advanced technologies, data-driven approaches, and community engagement initiatives that empower residents, businesses, and institutions to participate actively in waste diversion efforts.

The Recycling Representative role with WM is a pivotal position responsible for achieving recycling and sustainability goals as outlined in municipal contracts. This role requires a thorough understanding of WM service offerings and strategic use of company resources and relationships to support municipal and community objectives. The position involves working closely with businesses, apartments, and residents to provide educational programs, technical assistance, and hands-on support to improve composting and recycling effectiveness. The Recycling Representative operates in a hybrid work environment, combining remote office tasks with regular field work in and around Seattle. This includes onsite visits to troubleshoot complex waste program challenges, conducting waste audits, delivering presentations, and managing community recycling events.

The ideal candidate for this role is proactive, adaptable, and highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and outreach activities effectively. They will demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills to engage diverse municipal stakeholders and tailor programs to meet community needs. The Recycling Representative will lead initiatives such as door-to-door outreach, tabling at events, community tours, and social media engagement to promote WM’s sustainability efforts. This role also involves training and supervising summer interns as part of WM’s outreach team.

The position requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to cover community events and collections outside normal business hours. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions and able to lift and transport outreach materials. Compensation for this role ranges from $80,168 to $89,470 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. WM offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, a stock purchase plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Overall, this opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental sustainability and eager to make a meaningful impact within local communities by supporting recycling and waste reduction programs. WM fosters a collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement, customer service, and advancing green initiatives at the municipal level. Candidates joining WM as Recycling Representatives can expect to contribute directly to the company’s strategic goals while gaining valuable experience in the solid waste and sustainability sectors.
