Job Description

Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa (CCMI) is a reputable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and AmeriCorps grantee dedicated to engaging hundreds of youth and young adults annually in impactful programs that improve access to outdoor recreation, restore natural habitats, protect waterways, and address community needs and natural disasters. CCMI's mission centers on cultivating a community of emerging leaders committed to serving both people and the planet. The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator position at CCMI plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s external engagement efforts, primarily focusing on recruitment, outreach, communications, and development. This position is based in St. Paul, MN, with flexible options for remote or hybrid work, offering a competitive hourly wage between $23.00 and $24.00. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, aligning with CCMI's commitment to providing a balanced work schedule.

In this capacity, the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Talent and Strategic Engagement Manager and the broader Talent and Engagement team to implement strategic recruitment plans and outreach activities. The role aims to effectively engage a diverse pool of youth and young adults, increasing awareness of CCMI’s program opportunities while fostering strong community relationships. Key responsibilities include representing CCMI at public events, conferences, and job fairs to promote programs and attract potential participants. The coordinator also manages job postings, facilitates applicant screening and onboarding processes, and maintains communication to ensure a positive experience for all applicants.

Moreover, this position contributes significantly to CCMI's communications and development efforts by enhancing public visibility and support through community events, email campaigns, social media content creation, and alumni engagement. The coordinator manages organizational presence at prominent outreach events such as the Minnesota State Fair, overseeing logistics and volunteer coordination. By fostering ongoing connections with program participants, alumni, and community partners, the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator helps sustain CCMI's vibrant network and advances its mission-driven initiatives.

This role requires a proactive, outgoing individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for community engagement and environmental stewardship. Familiarity with AmeriCorps or other national service programs, proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce, and applicant tracking systems like Paycom is preferred. The position may require occasional travel, including some evening and weekend work, to support recruitment and outreach events. Job Duties

  • Represent CCMI at public events, job and career fairs, conferences, and community meetings to promote CCMI programs and recruit participants
  • Support and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, and community organizations to strengthen recruitment pipelines and raise awareness of opportunities
  • Assist in diversifying applicant sources through websites, job boards, networking, community partnerships, social media, and other external platforms
  • Manage job and position postings on external websites and recruitment platforms
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to assist with drafting position descriptions, screening applicants, and hiring/onboarding processes
  • Serve as lead staff for organizational application tracking system, Paycom, including building and monitoring job requisitions, applications, and applicant communication
  • Provide timely communication and accurate messaging to applicants and prospective members, ensuring a positive applicant experience including facilitating information sessions
  • Track recruitment efforts and analyze data to evaluate and suggest improvements
  • Proactively seek opportunities to expand CCMI's presence in the community by identifying and building new connections
  • Build connections with current program participants and alum by maintaining updated contact information and creating engagement opportunities
  • Assist in drafting and sending email communications through Mailchimp, including monthly newsletters and recruitment updates
  • Collaborate with communications team to curate and create content for social media, website/blog, and newsletters
  • Coordinate and support community, outreach, alumni, and fundraising events
  • Facilitate CCMI engagement at the MN State Fair including schedules, giveaways, booth setup and tear down, and volunteer recruitment
  • Manage inventory of CCMI branded swag items and coordinate ordering
  • Provide administrative support including organizational mailings, donor acknowledgements, and other communications
