Within Hyatt’s dynamic environment, the Food and Beverage Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the hotel’s food and beverage operations. This position is responsible for overseeing multiple venues including the signature restaurant VAGA, Perch Lounge, Pocket Restaurant, and any other food or beverage areas managed by Hyatt. The manager’s duties encompass both front and back-of-house functions, requiring a strategic mindset and hands-on leadership to ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability.

The Food and Beverage Manager is tasked with short- and long-term planning, developing budgets, marketing strategies, and operational objectives that align with corporate goals. They lead initiatives to implement and maintain sales and marketing programs that drive revenue growth while ensuring the highest standards of service and guest satisfaction. A crucial aspect of the role is directing and nurturing the team through hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and skilled workforce.

Ensuring seamless coordination between food and beverage operations and other hotel departments is essential to providing a unified and exceptional guest experience. The manager handles payroll administration, forecasting, inventory control, and budget management, maintaining strict adherence to financial and operational guidelines. Customer satisfaction is a top priority, with the manager actively resolving complaints and implementing quality control measures across all food and beverage outlets.

Maintaining Hyatt’s rigorous standards for service, safety, and cleanliness forms a core part of the role. The manager regularly conducts daily inspections to ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards. Communication with corporate staff is maintained to stay aligned with overarching company goals and updates. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years progressive food and beverage experience in a hotel environment
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Proven track record in customer service and sales growth

Job Qualifications

  • 4 years or more of progressive hotel food and beverage experience typically with Hyatt
  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Hotel hospitality degree an asset
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume concept, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Experience implementing new food and beverage concepts

Job Duties

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the food and beverage operations in the front and back of the house
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans
  • Implement and maintain food and beverage sales marketing programs
  • Direct and oversee development of employees
  • Hire, train, empower, coach and counsel, performance and salary reviews
  • Direct the implementation of the payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budget for food and beverage operations
  • Coordinate food and beverage operations with other hotel departments to ensure efficient guest service
  • Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality
  • Implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction
  • Exercise quality control for both food and beverage
  • Maintaining Hyatt standards of service and ensure their implementation
  • Performing daily walk-through to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards
  • Maintain communications with Corporate Staff
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
