Job Description
Team DriveAway is a dynamic and reputable transportation company specializing in nationwide over-the-road (OTR) vehicle transport services. With multiple divisions including Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom, the company provides a unique flexible driving opportunity designed for independent contractors. Unlike traditional company driver or owner/operator roles, Team DriveAway empowers its contracted drivers to select their loads and manage their schedules, fostering a professional environment where autonomy and earning potential go hand in hand. \n\nAs an Independent Contractor with Team DriveAway, drivers can benefit from competitive pay rates ranging from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile, plus a fuel surcharge that varies by load and division. Beyond the financial incentives, drivers enjoy the advantage of same-day pay once all paperwork and logs are approved, as well as the freedom to choose anywhere between two to five loads per month, striking a balance between workload and personal schedule. This level of flexibility is ideal for experienced commercial drivers seeking control over their professional commitments while operating on OTR routes across the United States. \n\nThe role demands a high degree of responsibility, including adherence to strict DOT regulations by maintaining accurate, daily logs exclusively via the MOTIVE app; paper logs are not accepted. Drivers must regularly communicate with their dispatchers, checking in at least once per week to ensure consistency and effectiveness in operations, even during periods without active loads. Typical trip lengths vary from 300 to 800 miles depending on customer needs, and drivers are expected to operate solo without the assistance of team drivers. This setup emphasizes independence, accountability, and expert driving skills. \n\nAdditional job requirements include owning and using tools necessary for decking and un-decking trucks, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections with proper photo documentation for every load, and providing real-time load tracking using MacroPoint for Truckers. Punctuality and professional attitude are paramount for pickup and delivery appointments to maintain the company’s high service standards. The role also requires drivers to handle fuel costs for their transports, with a recommendation to maintain at least a quarter tank of fuel during trips. Moreover, drivers must comply with escrow, occupational/accidental insurance, and deductible buy-back insurance policies to safeguard both themselves and the company. \n\nPosition type is strictly that of an Independent Contractor in an OTR capacity, and no company benefits are available beyond the outlined pay and bonuses. This position suits experienced commercial drivers who value flexibility, autonomy, and a performance-based compensation model while operating across diverse routes nationally. The driving experience required is rigorous, ensuring that all contractors meet verifiable histories of safe and compliant long-haul driving with a strong focus on regulatory adherence, professional communication, and operational excellence.
