Job Description

Team DriveAway is a specialized transportation company offering unique opportunities within multiple divisions such as Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom. Unlike typical trucking companies, Team DriveAway operates in the niche of over-the-road (OTR) load transport as an independent contractor setting, meaning drivers are not company employees but independent contractors. This setup provides drivers with the freedom to select their loads, allowing for greater flexibility and control over their schedules. With competitive incentives across driving divisions based on load types and distances, Team DriveAway caters to professional drivers seeking flexible, nationwide routes that can fit in with their individual work-life balance and driving preferences.

The role with Team DriveAway is ideal for drivers possessing a valid driver's license (ranging from Non-CDL to CDL Class A or B depending on the division) and who have verifiable over-the-road commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driving experience within the last three years. This is not a company driver or owner/operator role; rather, it is an independent contractor driving position where drivers are expected to maintain activity by completing between 3 and 5 loads per month. Generally, loads range from 300 to 800 miles depending on customer needs, and drivers operate solo without team driver arrangements.

Drivers in this role are required to maintain accurate, daily United States Department of Transportation (DOT) logs using the MOTIVE app—paper logs are not accepted. Additionally, drivers need to engage regularly with their dispatchers, checking in at least once per week even when not currently transporting loads. The company emphasizes a strong adherence to DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, punctuality for all pickups and deliveries, and consistent positive and professional communication. Drivers must also provide their own tools and equipment for truck decking and un-decking tasks, particularly in divisions requiring such skills.

The pay scale for drivers ranges from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile plus a fuel surcharge, depending on the division and specific load. Same-day pay is available once all required paperwork and logs are submitted and approved, offering a quick payment turnaround uncommon in many transportation jobs. Additionally, drivers have multiple bonus opportunities available to them, including referral bonuses, clean inspection bonuses, mileage bonuses, load bonuses, and safety bonuses, enabling increased earning potential.

While this Independent Contractor driving position offers substantial flexibility, it requires a rigorous commitment to safety, communication, and professionalism. Drivers must also manage real-time load tracking through MacroPoint for Truckers, submit photo documentation on each load, and conduct proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections in alignment with company standards. Escrow, occupational/accidental insurance, and deductible buy-back insurance are required, with further details provided during the application process.

Since this is a 1099 independent contractor role, traditional employee benefits such as health insurance or paid time off are not provided. However, the freedom to choose loads, control schedules, and the advantage of same-day pay make this position attractive for experienced and self-motivated drivers who want to operate independently while servicing a broad nationwide route network.
