Job Description
Team DriveAway is a reputable transportation company specializing in providing flexible driving opportunities across multiple divisions such as Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom. Established to meet the demands of nationwide vehicle transport, Team DriveAway has built a robust platform catering to independent contractors who seek control over their schedules while ensuring reliable and professional service for clients. The company is recognized for its commitment to efficient logistics and offers drivers the flexibility to choose loads that fit their availability and lifestyle. Emphasizing independence and professionalism, Team DriveAway supports drivers with competitive pay structures and multiple bonus opportunities to reward safety, performance, and referrals.
The role offered by Team DriveAway is that of an Independent Contractor driving position, where individuals transport units nationwide over-the-road (OTR) routes. Unlike company drivers or owner/operators, contractors in this role enjoy the liberty to select loads from various divisions, maintaining control over their workload by running approximately 2 to 5 loads per month. This position suits drivers who prefer autonomy and flexible earning potential, providing a pay range of $0.72 to $1.55 per mile plus an additional fuel surcharge for most driving divisions. Contractors can also benefit from same-day pay once all required paperwork and logs are submitted and approved, enhancing cash flow and financial management. While this is strictly a solo driving role, with no team drivers employed, contractors are expected to maintain active status by completing an agreed number of loads monthly and adhering to safety, communication, and regulatory requirements.
Drivers must use the MOTIVE app to maintain accurate, daily DOT logs—paper logs are not accepted. Regular communication with dispatchers, at least weekly, is mandatory to ensure smooth operations and timely updates even when not actively transporting loads. Load distances typically range between 300 to 800 miles based on customer needs, requiring drivers to possess strong knowledge of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and the ability to consistently log their driving activity throughout their routes. Pre-trip and post-trip inspections and photo documentation for every load are essential responsibilities to ensure compliance and safety.
Contractors must be equipped with their own tools and equipment for decking and un-decking trucks and must submit all required paperwork punctually while maintaining excellent communication with dispatch. A professional, positive attitude and punctuality at pickup and delivery points are critical attributes for success in this role. Additionally, drivers are expected to use MacroPoint for Truckers, providing real-time load tracking to customers that aids in transparency and improved service quality. The position requires the driver to be responsible for fueling their vehicles, with encouragement to maintain at least one-quarter tank of fuel during transport. Independent contractors are required to have escrow, occupational/accidental insurance, and deductible buy-back insurance, with more information provided upon application.
Team DriveAway’s Independent Contractor role appeals to experienced drivers who meet specific criteria including holding a valid Non-CDL or CDL Class A or B license, with certain positions requiring double/triple (T) endorsements and verified OTR commercial vehicle driving experience. The company demands a clean driving record, verification of past employment with DOT numbers, and documented company transport experience within the last three years. While rideshare experience does not qualify, strong compliance with DOT regulations and the ability to maintain accurate electronic logs via the MOTIVE app is essential. This position is ideal for professional drivers seeking an OTR independent contractor role rather than local or regional driving, with unrestricted mileage opportunities and a competitive pay structure. Overall, Team DriveAway offers a unique opportunity for drivers looking for flexibility, competitive compensation, and a professional, supportive platform to manage their independent driving career effectively.
