Job Description
Team DriveAway is a dynamic and specialized transport company providing flexible opportunities across multiple driving divisions including Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom. Operating as a company that facilitates over-the-road (OTR) transport services, Team DriveAway is distinguished by offering independent contractor roles rather than traditional company driver or owner/operator positions. Established to serve a diverse range of customers nationwide, this company focuses on creating a flexible, driver-centered experience, empowering drivers with the autonomy to select routes or loads that fit their personal schedules while ensuring efficient, reliable transportation services across the country.
As an independent contractor with Team DriveAway, drivers are entrusted with the responsibility of transporting units on OTR routes that range predominantly between 300 and 800 miles. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, compliance with DOT regulations, and an ability to maintain precise and timely records leveraging the MOTIVE application for digital logging instead of outdated paper logs. With a competitive pay scale ranging from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile plus a fuel surcharge, this position offers lucrative earning potential according to the specific load and driving division. Moreover, drivers have the benefit of same-day pay once all necessary paperwork and logs are approved, providing a financial fluidity rare in the trucking industry.
The independent contractor position fosters great flexibility, allowing drivers to run between 2 to 5 loads per month while maintaining control over their schedules, making it ideal for those who seek a balance between work and personal life. Additionally, Team DriveAway rewards safety and performance with a robust bonus system, including referral bonuses, clean inspection bonuses, mileage bonuses, load bonuses, and safety bonuses, incentivizing drivers to maintain high standards and dedication. Drivers operate solo, aligning with the company’s operational philosophy that does not utilize team drivers, thereby focusing on drivers’ individual capacities and preferences.
Additional key aspects of the role include stringent weekly check-ins with dispatch to ensure communication and operational continuity even when not actively transporting a load, strict adherence to pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and comprehensive photo documentation requirements per load. The expectation for professionalism, punctuality, and positive attitude permeate the culture at Team DriveAway, emphasizing a professional working environment and high customer service standards.
Because this is a 1099 independent contractor position, there are no traditional employment benefits, making it an excellent choice for drivers who prefer contractor status with the associated flexibility and potential financial rewards. The company requires a strong familiarity with DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and demands all contractors possess the requisite endorsements and verifiable OTR experience relative to their division. Positioned as a true OTR opportunity, local or regional driving is not part of this role’s scope, setting clear expectations for potential applicants.
In summary, Team DriveAway provides a unique and strategic opportunity for experienced drivers seeking independent contractor driving roles with flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and a supportive, incentive-driven environment. The nature of the work requires discipline, professionalism, and technological adeptness for logging and communication. This role fits well with drivers looking for a career that balances autonomy with consistent work and financial incentives.
