Job Description

Team DriveAway is a reputable transportation company known for offering diverse driving opportunities across multiple divisions such as Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom. As an industry leader in over-the-road (OTR) transportation services, Team DriveAway specializes in providing flexible, independent contracting options tailored to experienced drivers who desire control over their workload and schedule. The company emphasizes driver autonomy, enabling its contractors to select loads that best fit their lifestyle and preferences. With a strong commitment to competitive compensation and supportive dispatch, Team DriveAway creates an environment where independent contractors can thrive while ensuring timely nationwide delivery of valuable units.

This role is designed specifically for independent contractors rather than company drivers or owner/operators. Drivers in this capacity are responsible for transporting vehicles and equipment across the country on various OTR routes, offering considerable flexibility by allowing them to run between 2 to 5 loads monthly. The compensation ranges from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile with an additional fuel surcharge, which varies depending on the load and division. The company also offers same-day pay once all necessary paperwork and logs are approved, providing financial stability and quick access to earnings. Payment is enhanced with various bonus opportunities, including referral, clean inspection, mileage, load, and safety bonuses, further incentivizing excellence and reliability.

Contracted drivers operate solo, without team drivers, handling loads that typically range from 300 to 800 miles based on customer requirements. Team DriveAway stresses the importance of maintaining accurate, daily DOT logs via the MOTIVE app, as paper logs are not accepted. Drivers must remain active by completing the required 3 to 5 loads per month and keep consistent communication with dispatchers by checking in at least once weekly. Attention to punctuality at pickup and delivery points and adherence to DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations are critical components of the role. Moreover, drivers need to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections thoroughly with proper logging and photo documentation for every load.

Candidates must have a minimum of one year of verifiable OTR commercial motor vehicle driving experience within the last three years, with additional decking experience required for deck positions. Maintaining a relatively clean driving record and stable employment history also plays a vital role in eligibility. Drivers must provide DOT numbers of previous employers for verification and submit all required paperwork punctually. Expert use of tracking tools such as MacroPoint for real-time load tracking is mandatory. The role requires drivers to be responsible for their fuel costs and to maintain necessary tools and equipment for decking and un-decking trucks.

This Independent Contractor Driving Position is specifically designed for long-haul drivers who seek the freedom and control that comes with a flexible, non-company driver role. While the job entails significant responsibility and strict adherence to federal transportation regulations, Team DriveAway supports its drivers with competitive pay, flexible scheduling, and various allowances designed to maximize earnings and job satisfaction. It is important to note that as a 1099 position, there are no company-provided benefits, emphasizing the independent nature of this contract opportunity.
