As an Independent Contractor with Team DriveAway, you will be responsible for transporting vehicles across the country on over-the-road (OTR) routes that range typically between 300 to 800 miles. Unlike traditional company drivers or owner/operators, this role offers considerable flexibility by allowing you to select the loads that best fit your timetable. While operating solo, drivers maintain active status by completing 3-5 loads per month, ensuring consistent workload engagement while preserving personal scheduling freedom.

This position requires a solid understanding of DOT Hours of Service regulations, as drivers must maintain accurate daily electronic logs using the MOTIVE app. Paper logs are not accepted, highlighting the company's commitment to compliance and technological efficiency. Drivers are expected to communicate regularly with dispatchers, even during periods of downtime, and to manage timely submission of paperwork and documentation for each transport. Additional responsibilities include performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, capturing photo documentation for every load, and providing real-time load tracking to customers via the MacroPoint app.

Team DriveAway offers competitive pay ranging from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile, complemented by fuel surcharges that vary according to load and division. Moreover, drivers benefit from same-day pay upon approval of all required documentation, and there are additional incentives including referral bonuses, clean inspection bonuses, mileage bonuses, load bonuses, and safety bonuses to reward exceptional performance.

This position is tailored for drivers with a valid driving license (Non-CDL or CDL Class A or B, depending on the specific division), verifiable over-the-road experience within the past three years, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and professional operational standard. Independent contractors are responsible for their own tools and equipment, particularly in the decking/un-decking roles, and must adhere strictly to punctuality and positive communication standards.

Job Requirements

  • deck positions require double/triple (T) endorsement
  • minimum 1 year verifiable OTR CMV driving experience within last 3 years
  • deck positions require minimum 2 years OTR CMV driving experience plus 1 year decking and un-decking
  • non-CDL positions require minimum 1 year OTR professional driving experience with a driveaway company
  • rideshare driving experience does not count
  • must maintain relatively clean driving record and stable employment history
  • must provide DOT numbers of previous employers
  • must provide documentation of companies transported for within last 3 years
  • must maintain accurate daily DOT logs with MOTIVE app
  • drivers must log as they move throughout the day
  • must provide own tools and equipment for decking/un-decking
  • must submit paperwork and documents on time
  • must maintain excellent communication with dispatch
  • punctuality required at all appointments
  • must demonstrate positive, professional attitude
  • must use MacroPoint for Truckers for real-time load tracking

Job Qualifications

  • Valid DL (Non-CDL) or CDL Class A or Class B license
  • minimum 1 year of verifiable OTR CMV driving experience within the last 3 years
  • for deck positions, minimum 2 years verifiable OTR CMV driving experience plus 1 year verifiable decking and un-decking experience within the last 3 years
  • strong knowledge of DOT HOS regulations
  • ability to maintain accurate digital logs

Job Duties

  • Select loads to transport based on schedule and preference
