Job Description
Team DriveAway is a reputable independent contractor driving company that specializes in providing flexible and lucrative transportation opportunities across multiple divisions, including Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom. With a business model focusing on over-the-road (OTR) routes, Team DriveAway offers drivers the unique advantage of selecting the loads that fit their schedules while operating as independent contractors. This structure allows drivers to maintain control over their work-life balance and manage their transport assignments with considerable freedom and autonomy.
Team DriveAway is not a traditional company driver or owner/operator employer. Instead, it partners with experienced drivers who seek flexible and reliable opportunities to haul vehicles coast to coast. The company is committed to offering competitive compensation ranging from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile plus fuel surcharges, depending on the driving division and load specifics. Additionally, Team DriveAway provides same-day pay upon submission and approval of required paperwork and logs, promoting timely income for its contractors. The independent contractor driving position demands a minimum monthly activity of 3-5 loads to ensure consistent engagement and productivity.
In this role, drivers will perform solo transports of new and used vehicles nationwide, averaging trip lengths between 300 and 800 miles. This requires a high level of professionalism and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations facilitated by the mandatory use of the MOTIVE app for digital logging. Team DriveAway emphasizes stringent compliance with daily DOT Hours of Service (HOS) rules and requires that drivers conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain photo documentation for every load. The use of MacroPoint for Truckers ensures real-time load tracking is transmitted to customers, reinforcing transparency and accountability.
Moreover, drivers must equip themselves with their own tools necessary for decking and un-decking trucks and demonstrate reliable communication with dispatch. Weekly check-ins with dispatchers, even when not actively hauling, help maintain a cooperative relationship and operational awareness.
Team DriveAway incentivizes professional performance through multiple bonus opportunities, including referral bonuses, clean inspection bonuses, mileage bonuses, load bonuses, and safety bonuses, fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence. Though the company name includes the term "Team," the driving assignments are exclusively solo, reflecting the company’s dedication to independent contractor service delivery rather than team driving operations.
This position suits professional drivers who possess a valid CDL Class A or B license or a Non-CDL valid driver's license with specialized endorsements where applicable. Candidates must have verifiable over-the-road commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driving experience, a stable employment history, and a relatively clean driving record. Those applying for Deck positions require additional decking and un-decking experience.
It’s important to note that this is a 1099 independent contractor position with no employee benefits offered. Drivers are responsible for their own fuel costs and associated expenses but gain the advantage of flexible scheduling, competitive pay rates, and the opportunity to work with a well-regarded transport service known within the industry. Team DriveAway is a compelling choice for experienced drivers seeking autonomy, competitive compensation, and the ability to select loads that match their availability and preferences.
