Job Description
Team DriveAway is a reputable transportation company that specializes in over-the-road (OTR) freight delivery across the United States. This company operates in several divisions including Singles, Non-CDL, New Deck, Used Deck, and Boom. Team DriveAway offers independent contractor opportunities for professional drivers who want flexibility and control over their schedules by choosing the loads they want to transport. Their fleet and services cater to a broad range of transportation needs involving various vehicle types and cargo handling methods, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
As an Independent Contractor with Team DriveAway, drivers engage in transporting vehicles nationwide, operating solo without the use of team drivers. This is not a traditional company driver or owner/operator role but rather a contractor-based position that provides the freedom to run 2-5 loads per month according to personal availability and preferences. Drivers must maintain active status by completing between three to five loads monthly while utilizing modern tools like the MOTIVE app to keep accurate and up-to-date DOT logs. Paper logs are not accepted, ensuring compliance with current regulatory standards. In addition to competitive pay ranging from $0.72 to $1.55 per mile plus a fuel surcharge, Team DriveAway offers same-day pay once all necessary paperwork and logs are approved, further enhancing financial flexibility for their drivers.
Team DriveAway’s contractors are required to manage their own tools and equipment for decking and un-decking trucks and must stay in regular contact with dispatchers, checking in at least once per week even when not actively transporting loads. Drivers are responsible for conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, submitting photo documentation for every load, and using MacroPoint for Truckers to provide real-time load tracking to customers. This commitment to transparency and operational excellence is core to Team DriveAway’s promise of reliable delivery and professional service.
The opportunity also comes with a variety of attractive bonus incentives such as referral bonuses, clean inspection bonuses, mileage bonuses, load bonuses, and safety bonuses. This holistic compensation package is designed to reward safe driving, efficiency, and dedication. Team DriveAway prioritizes the professional development of its contractors and requires a solid understanding of DOT Hours of Service regulations, a clean driving record, and stable employment history to qualify. This role demands punctuality, excellent communication skills, and a positive, professional attitude to foster a successful working relationship and uphold the company’s high standards.
This position suits experienced drivers with a minimum of one year of verifiable OTR commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driving experience for Non-CDL roles, while deck positions require additional experience with decking and un-decking duties. The role also requires drivers to maintain their own DOT numbers for verification and provide documentation related to their transport activities within the past three years. Although independent, contractors benefit from a structured framework that invites accountability and rewards performance, making Team DriveAway a competitive and rewarding choice for drivers seeking independent OTR driving assignments.
