Job Description
Barr-Nunn Transportation is a reputable dry van truckload carrier founded in 1982, with a fleet consisting of approximately 600 tractors and around 2,150 trailers. The company is well-known for providing exceptional on-time pickup and delivery services to some of the leading e-commerce customers and other businesses demanding reliable and punctual freight solutions. Over the years, Barr-Nunn has built a strong reputation in the trucking industry, not only for its efficient operations but also for maintaining an outstanding safety record. This commitment to safety and service excellence has made Barr-Nunn a stable, profitable, and trusted name in the transportation sector.
Barr-Nunn Transportation offers a unique opportunity for professional truck drivers looking for a solo, company driving position with competitive pay and a supportive work environment. The position boasts a salary range of $85,000 to $95,000 per year with an initial transition bonus of $1,700 or $1,875 on the first paycheck. Drivers can expect a consistent home time schedule of running for 21 days followed by 7 days at home, with 100% no-touch freight in full dry van truckloads. Barr-Nunn takes care of its drivers by providing paid flights home or reimbursing fuel costs for drivers living east of I-35 who park their truck at one of the company’s terminals, ensuring convenience and comfort between runs.
The role is designed to reward experience and qualifications with a pay rate between 65 to 70 cents per mile, based on endorsements and tenure. Drivers holding a HAZMAT endorsement are eligible for a sizable hiring bonus of $1,575, plus $300 orientation pay on the first check, with additional bonuses after 30 days. Even those without a HAZMAT endorsement receive significant hiring incentives. Beyond base pay, Barr-Nunn provides accessorial pay when applicable, such as stop-off pay, and a range of substantial benefits including an excellent 401(k) plan with company matching, BCBS health insurance, dental coverage, and free $10,000 life insurance.
Drivers enjoy well-equipped trucks outfitted with modern amenities like TV, microwave, refrigerator, inverter, Sirius XM radio, bedding, and CB radio, offering a comfortable experience while on the road. The company supports driver referrals through a lucrative program worth between $6,600 to $7,900 plus four days of paid time off. Barr-Nunn also rewards safe driving through unmatched CSA safety bonuses every 90 days, safety-based pay raises at mileage milestones, a $650 on-road safety bonus, and an annual anniversary bonus for continuous service.
Additional perks for drivers include paid weekly salaries, premium pay for completing loads less than 400 miles, detention pay starting after just one hour, accelerated paid time off earned every 60,000 miles, use of advanced technology for paperwork and load management, and premium equipment such as late-model Freightliner Cascadia tractors with new 53-foot Wabash trailers featuring tracking and cargo sensors. Barr-Nunn’s terminal system offers conveniences like Prepass Plus weigh station bypass and toll transponders, greatly enhancing driver efficiency and comfort.
Overall, Barr-Nunn Transportation provides a rewarding and supportive environment for truck drivers seeking long-term career stability with one of the industry’s most trusted carriers. Whether you are new to Barr-Nunn or a seasoned driver, this opportunity combines competitive pay, extensive benefits, superior equipment, and a strong safety culture to help you succeed on the road.
