Job Description
Barr-Nunn Transportation, established in 1982, is a prominent dry van truckload carrier known for its commitment to exceptional safety and reliable on-time service. Operating a fleet of approximately 600 tractors and 2,150 trailers, Barr-Nunn has built a robust reputation by providing outstanding pickup and delivery services to major e-commerce companies and other businesses that require dependable freight transportation. The company's award-winning on-time service and impeccable safety record have cemented its status as a stable and profitable operation in the competitive trucking industry. Unlike many trucking operations that may experience volatility, Barr-Nunn offers lasting career opportunities for professional drivers, emphasizing long-term employment and satisfaction.
Barr-Nunn Transportation is currently seeking experienced Over-The-Road (OTR) CDL-A truck drivers to join their team. This full-time solo company driving position offers an attractive salary range of $85,000 to $95,000 annually with additional earning potential through competitive pay per mile, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits. Drivers will enjoy a consistent home time schedule of 21 days on the road followed by 7 days off, making it easier to balance work and personal life. The freight primarily consists of 100% no-touch full dry van truckload hauls, allowing drivers to focus on driving without the burden of loading or unloading cargo themselves.
One of the unique aspects of this role is the paid flights home benefit, where drivers must park their trucks at one of Barr-Nunn's terminals. The company covers the cost of flying drivers back home and then back to the terminal, or alternatively reimburses fuel costs for drivers living east of Interstate 35 who prefer to drive their trucks home. This perk highlights Barr-Nunn's dedication to driver comfort and convenience.
The compensation package includes a highly competitive pay rate of 65 to 70 cents per mile, which varies based on experience and endorsements. Drivers with a HAZMAT endorsement are eligible for a generous transition bonus, orientation pay, and additional bonuses after 30 days, with similar but slightly different incentives for those without the HAZMAT endorsement. Additional accessorial pay, such as stop-off pay, is also available when applicable.
Barr-Nunn's fleet is equipped with late-model Freightliner Cascadia tractors and newer 53-foot Wabash trailers featuring tracking and cargo sensors for real-time updates. Trucks come outfitted with amenities such as a TV, microwave, refrigerator, inverter, free Sirius XM radio, bedding, sheets, pillows, and CB radios to enhance the on-the-road experience. Their online services allow drivers to manage loads and review payroll via smartphone apps, simplifying daily workflow.
Safety is a paramount concern at Barr-Nunn, which offers unmatched CSA safety bonuses every 90 days, safety-based pay raises at designated mileage milestones, on-road safety bonuses, and annual anniversary bonuses to reward long-term commitment. The company also provides premium pay for hauling placarded HAZMAT loads and access to a lucrative referral program rewarding drivers for bringing in new talent.
Additional benefits include an excellent 401(k) plan with matching contributions, BCBS health insurance, dental insurance, $10,000 life insurance coverage at no cost, paid weekly wages, and accelerated paid time off (PTO) earned every 60,000 miles driven. Detention pay starts after just one hour, and drivers benefit from orientation pay, a free rider program, Prepass Plus weigh station bypass, and toll transponders for added convenience.
