Job Description

Barr-Nunn Transportation is a well-established dry van truckload carrier that has been in operation since 1982. With a fleet of approximately 600 tractors and 2,150 trailers, the company specializes in providing reliable, on-time pickup and delivery services to major e-commerce companies as well as other clients who require timely and efficient freight transport. Barr-Nunn is recognized for its exceptional safety record and award-winning on-time delivery service, which has contributed to its stability and profitability over the decades. The company prides itself on maintaining long-term relationships with both its clients and drivers, ensuring satisfaction and consistency in service quality.

Barr-Nunn Transportation is currently looking to hire OTR (Over-The-Road) CDL-A truck drivers who desire a rewarding career with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. This role offers an annual earning potential ranging from $85,000 to $95,000, with an attractive transition bonus of either $1,700 or $1,875 on the first paycheck. The position involves solo, company-operated driving primarily using full dry van truckloads with 100% no-touch freight, meaning drivers are not required to handle the freight physically. The pay rate is highly competitive, with 65 to 70 cents per mile offered based on the driver’s experience and endorsements.

The typical work cycle includes running routes for 21 days followed by 7 days of home time, ensuring a balanced work-life arrangement. Barr-Nunn supports its drivers by covering paid flights home or reimbursing fuel costs for drivers living east of the I-35 highway. The trucks provided are equipped with various amenities aimed at driver comfort, including a TV, microwave, refrigerator, inverter, free Sirius XM radio, bedding, sheets, pillows, and CB radios. The newer assigned Freightliner Cascadia tractors come with modern 53-foot Wabash trailers featuring tracking and cargo sensors, enhancing operational efficiency and load safety.

In addition to top pay, Barr-Nunn offers an extensive benefits package, including an excellent 401(k) plan with a company match, BCBS health insurance, dental insurance, and free $10,000 life insurance coverage. Drivers may qualify for hiring bonuses with additional incentives for those holding a HAZMAT endorsement. Furthermore, the company maintains a lucrative referral program that rewards drivers who refer others with bonuses and paid time off. Safety bonuses and pay raises based on mileage milestones further demonstrate Barr-Nunn’s commitment to rewarding good performance and safety.

The role also features accessorial pay for applicable situations like stop-offs, detention pay starting after just one hour, premium mileage pay for hauling placarded HAZMAT freight, accelerated paid time off based on miles driven, and the use of advanced online and mobile services to simplify load management, payroll review, and paperwork submission.

As a Barr-Nunn OTR driver, you will be joining a forward-thinking transportation team that values safety, efficiency, and driver well-being. The company has a proud history and a reputation for being a reliable long-term employer in the trucking industry. This opportunity is perfect for professional truck drivers who meet the company’s stringent safety and experience requirements and are seeking to advance their careers while enjoying highly competitive compensation and industry-leading benefits.
