Job Description
The hiring organization is a specialized healthcare institution dedicated to organ and tissue donation and transplantation services. This establishment plays a vital role in the healthcare ecosystem by coordinating organ procurement and allocation, a process crucial for saving lives of patients awaiting transplants. The institution has a robust operational framework that combines advanced medical technology like Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) systems with expert clinical and administrative staff to manage organ donation logistics efficiently. This organization fosters a collaborative environment between hospitals, transportation teams, medical directors, and donor families to ensure seamless organ transplantation processes and compliance with legal and medical standards. As an essential service provider in healthcare, the institution upholds a commitment to empathy, precision, and timeliness, ensuring that organs are safely transported and allocated to recipients on waiting lists according to strict medical criteria and national policies.
The role of Organ Operations Coordinator is a dynamic and critical position responsible for overseeing and managing the entire referral and operational process associated with organ donation. This position requires assessing all donor referrals received from multiple markets, conducting detailed reviews of potential donors' medical records, and entering relevant data into the specialized donor EMR system. The coordinator is pivotal in ensuring eligible organs are allocated effectively and transported promptly, liaising closely with the Organ Administrator On Call and Medical Director to confirm donor suitability and adherence to allocation protocols. The coordinator also monitors the status of organs during mechanical perfusion, communicates with various teams to facilitate transportation, and ensures all documentation and arrival confirmations are meticulously maintained. This role demands strong critical thinking skills, an ability to perform under pressure, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and healthcare operations. Employment in this position involves working rotating day/night shifts as operational needs dictate and requires someone who is adaptable and committed to providing exemplary customer service throughout the organ donation process. This position typically requires an associate degree and relevant experience in a call center, healthcare, or related settings to qualify for the role. The coordinator’s responsibilities include effective communication both internally among team members and externally with donors' medical facilities, ensuring smooth transitions and compliance with policies that ultimately help save lives through successful organ transplantation.
