Job Description
American Land & Leisure (AL&L) is a prominent organization specializing in the management and operation of campgrounds. The company is dedicated to providing exceptional outdoor experiences to campers by ensuring well-maintained facilities and superior customer service. AL&L operates a variety of campgrounds where visitors can enjoy nature, relax, and participate in recreational activities. As a seasonal employer, the company values the contributions of its Campground Hosts who play a vital role in maintaining the quality and safety of the camping environments. The employment opportunity is seasonal, reflecting the nature of campground usage which typically fluctuates with weather and seasonal demand. The wage range for this position is $15.05 to $17.05 per hour, with payment processed on a bi-weekly payroll schedule. Compensation correlates with the hours assigned and worked, and the hours may vary due to factors such as usage rates and weather conditions. Employees are scheduled to work 1.5 to 8 hours per day, six days per week, with one day off weekly, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday, subject to District Manager approval. Uniforms are provided and mandatory, ensuring hosts present a professional appearance while representing AL&L.
The role of Campground Host at AL&L is integral to the smooth operation and upkeep of the campgrounds under the company’s management. Campground Hosts are assigned to specific campground areas and are responsible for a broad range of duties from preparing the facilities before guests arrive to maintaining cleanliness and safety during their stay, and ensuring the site is ready promptly after guests depart. This position demands outstanding customer service skills, as hosts directly engage with guests, addressing their needs, managing reservations, and upholding campground rules to create an enjoyable and safe environment. Conflict resolution skills are particularly valued, as hosts may need to defuse tense situations that can arise among guests. Physical stamina and versatility are essential, as the job involves outdoor labor such as walking across the campground, landscaping, cleaning restrooms and fire pits, and handling maintenance equipment like blowers, mowers, and rakes.
Additionally, hosts manage financial transactions including collecting fees, cash handling, credit card processing, and maintaining accurate sales records using basic bookkeeping and computer skills. Prior experience with reservation systems is preferred to ensure efficient booking and management of camping sites. The role requires campers to arrive with their own recreational vehicle (RV) or camper trailer to live in, as tents, yerts, and soft-sided pop-up trailers are not acceptable living arrangements for this position. The Campground Host role is designed for individuals or couples who enjoy working outdoors, possess strong interpersonal skills, and can perform physically demanding tasks while delivering exceptional customer service, all contributing towards providing memorable outdoor experiences for guests at AL&L campgrounds.
