Job Description

United Salad Co. is a prominent family-owned distributor specializing in fresh produce and grocery items across the Pacific Northwest. Recognized for its commitment to quality and sustainability, this company works closely with local farms to supply a diverse range of high-quality fruits, vegetables, and specialty foods. Serving grocers, restaurants, schools, and various institutions, United Salad Co. prides itself on delivering fresh and sustainable products that meet the needs of its clients efficiently and reliably. The company’s strong regional presence is supported by its dedicated workforce and its focus on upholding integrity and teamwork within all aspects of its operation.

The Warehouse Order Selector role at United Salad Co. is a full-time night shift position based in Portland, Oregon, specifically designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment. This role primarily involves using voice-directed systems and electric pallet jacks to accurately select customer orders. The shift starts at 6:00 PM and continues until the completion of assigned tasks, including stacking, labeling, shrink-wrapping, and loading completed orders onto trucks. Due to the nature of the position, availability seven days a week including weekends is required to meet operational demands.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage starting at $21.00, with additional wage premiums and production bonuses that can raise earnings to an average of approximately $33.00 per hour, contingent upon achieving specific work performance criteria. Employees also benefit from several bonuses including a $1,000 sign-on bonus, a $1,000 referral bonus, and performance bonuses ranging from $250 to $375 based on productivity. The company promotes a motivating work environment with weekly prize competitions and paid training programs. Furthermore, employees start accruing paid time off (PTO) from day one and can take advantage of comprehensive medical and dental coverage through Kaiser as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.

Successful candidates for this role are self-motivated and reliable individuals who act with integrity and work well within a team environment. They are competitive and goal-focused, bringing a strong commitment to meeting and exceeding performance targets. The physical demands are considerable, requiring applicants to be able to lift 50 to 70 pounds repeatedly and work comfortably in cold, wet environments where temperatures range from 15 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Prior experience with motorized pallet jacks is mandatory for ensuring safety and efficiency in the selection and loading process.

Industrially, this position is key to maintaining the flow of goods from the warehouse to customers, which affects United Salad Co.’s ability to uphold its promise of fresh quality produce delivery. Working with United Salad Co. offers warehouse professionals an opportunity to engage with a respected leader in the produce distribution sector, enjoy comprehensive benefits, and grow within a supportive corporate culture focused on employee success and community involvement.
