The Optical Precision Electromechanical Assembler 3 position, based in Rolling Meadows, IL, is a pivotal role within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. This role involves executing and supporting all optical activities related to the production of optical-mechanical assemblies, which requires a high level of precision and attention to detail. Candidates in this role will engage in various duties ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive assembly operations on opto-mechanical, electro-optical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies. Working primarily from diagrams and drawings, the assembler will use both hand and power tools to perform the assembly tasks, ensuring technical accuracy and quality throughout the manufacturing process. Key responsibilities include performing continuity checks on assemblies in process and upon completion, as well as disassembling, modifying, reworking, reassembling, and testing experimental or prototype assemblies in line with engineering specifications.
This role offers a unique opportunity to apply skills using metrology and inspection instruments to test and verify optical and mechanical components. The assembler may also participate in building or modifying specialized equipment designed to test precision optics, and will be responsible for setting up and testing complete units and subassemblies under operational conditions. - Minimum of 4 years of optical assembly experience
- Experience with handling and cleaning optics
- Experience following work instructions and reading and interpreting drawings
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
