The position of Production Operator II at the Sacramento, CA plant focuses on acetylene production and filling operations. This role involves safely filling gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders while adhering to strict federal, state, and local regulations along with Airgas standards. The operator supports various plant operations including monitoring equipment for filling industrial gas mixtures, cryogenic gases, and medical gas products. They contribute to both level 1 and level 2 activities of production, ensuring quality and safety at every stage. Working in the 2:00pm to 10:00pm shift, the operator will be responsible for tasks such as inspecting cylinders, performing safety checks, preparing cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling, and accurately documenting operations to meet Department of Transportation (DOT), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Airgas quality control standards.

This position requires an individual capable of handling hazardous materials and cylinder gases with a strong knowledge of safety protocols including the reading of cylinder labels and color coding. The operator will maintain a clean and orderly plant appearance while efficiently operating various warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Essential to this role is the ability to work with diverse teams, communicate effectively, and maintain meticulous attention to detail. Job Requirements

  • Ability to complete training and achieve certifications for filling all cryogenic liquids and pure industrial gases
  • Ability to complete FDA, Food Grade, and CGMP training and achieve certifications
  • HS diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in related manufacturing operation
  • filling or loading experience preferred
  • Must be able to operate forklift and maintain appropriate forklift certifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong level of attention to detail
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Inspects cylinders prior to filling, following established procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards
  • Performs a variety of safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests and checking caps and valves
  • Reviews products for purity and correct mixtures to ensure excellence
  • Supports the maintenance of high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders
  • Prepares high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling
  • Attaches to the manifold and ensures the highest quality by preparing the vessel for fill
  • Fills cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards
  • Collaborates on the loading and unloading of cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers
  • Operates a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment
  • Maintains accurate records to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards
  • Completes quality control sheets as required
  • Accurately labels cylinders
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance
  • Supports any reasonable work request within qualifications
