The role of Operations Technician at Archaea Energy is a vital position responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of landfill gas to RNG processing plants. This full-time role entails managing plant operations, performing essential maintenance tasks, troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The initial 12 months involve a significant travel requirement of up to 50% per month when assigned to new plants, which gradually reduces to 25% from the second year or when working at established facilities. The position demands a hands-on approach, technical proficiency, and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.

During the introductory employment period of 90 days, new hires receive support and feedback to ensure alignment with company values and performance expectations, including punctuality, work quality, deadline adherence, cooperation, and policy compliance. Upon successful completion, employment continues on an at-will basis.

The Operations Technician plays a central role in the production process by performing periodic inspections, reviewing operational data, and conducting preventive maintenance on plant equipment and instrumentation. This includes diagnosing and correcting electrical and mechanical malfunctions, conducting safety and hazardous waste management procedures, and maintaining accurate logs and reports. Proficiency in process control systems, sensors, transducers, and troubleshooting is critical. Technical knowledge of gas chemistry, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and blueprint reading supports effective operational oversight.

Archaea Energy offers competitive compensation with a base salary in the range of $31-$32 per hour. Employees also benefit from a robust vacation package ranging from 120 to 240 hours annually for full-time staff (pro-rated for part-time), nine paid holidays, and two personal choice holidays.
