The available position as an Operations Supervisor at one of the Penske Logistics warehousing operations offers a rewarding leadership opportunity for experienced logistics professionals. This role is instrumental in steering the on-site team towards achieving customer satisfaction and meeting strategic goals. The Operations Supervisor holds responsibility for overseeing daily operations, including trailer loading and unloading, cross-docking activities, customer service, and workforce scheduling. They play a critical role in maintaining operational compliance, ensuring safety protocols are rigorously followed, and upholding financial controls related to inventory accuracy and cost management.

This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule, with working hours starting at 4:30 AM and continuing until 1:30 PM or until work is complete, with variations depending on business needs. The role is bonus eligible, potentially earning up to 12 percent of the base salary based on individual and location performance, reflecting Penske's commitment to rewarding leadership excellence and operational success. The Operations Supervisor is a key player in fostering team motivation and engagement, conducting training and coaching for associates, and initiating continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Job Duties

  • Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure execution of daily tasks and activities including loading/unloading of trailers, cross-docking, and customer service operations
  • Supervise workforce and equipment scheduling
  • Make corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level
  • Participate in hiring process and customer meetings as necessary
  • Establish and sustain training and competence for supervisors and associates
  • Communicate specific and measurable performance standards
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and provide coaching and counseling
  • Motivate and engage associates focusing on team accomplishments
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch and documentation control
  • Conduct team meetings
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to increase productivity of warehouse operations
  • Provide relief coverage for operational duties during absences
  • Ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolution
  • Complete records and reports accurately and timely
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies including inventory accuracy and control
  • Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets
  • Align day-to-day management with location safety strategy
  • Provide communication, training, feedback, and direction on safety
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and company policies
  • Conduct safety observations
  • Meet and exceed location-specific customer goals and objectives
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer objectives
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Plan work assignments to ensure effective use of warehouse equipment
  • Train associates on safe and efficient equipment operation
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance
  • Execute additional projects and tasks as assigned by management
