This particular role is for an Operations Supervisor at the Penske Logistics location in Coppell, TX. The position is a full-time role, primarily scheduled Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with flexibility required during peak seasons and business demands. The Operations Supervisor is a vital leadership position responsible for directing and motivating a team of hourly drivers and associates to fulfill customer requirements while achieving company goals and operational efficiencies. This includes supervising all logistics operations such as driver deliveries, freight loading and unloading, customer service, dispatch, and safety compliance.

The Operations Supervisor ensures associates are well-trained and aligned with customer objectives, manages performance standards, and takes part in hiring and disciplinary activities up to written warnings. The role also focuses heavily on improving operational productivity through evaluating current methods and leading change initiatives. Acting as a problem solver, the supervisor manages processes, maintains equipment schedules, ensures compliance with financial and safety regulations, and fosters a culture of recognition and motivation among team members. Strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and proactive problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this role. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for a bachelor’s degree, be proficient in Microsoft Office software, and demonstrate ownership and responsibility with a sense of urgency.

Job Duties

  • Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce
  • Supervise driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations
  • Ensure associates are trained, competent, and aligned with customer business objectives
  • Monitor performance standards, attendance, productivity and provide coaching and counseling
  • Motivate and engage associates through team accomplishments and recognition
  • Supervise logistics operations including dispatch and documentation control
  • Conduct team meetings and assist in new associate training
  • Manage operational compliance and resolve exceptions
  • Complete records and reports accurately and timely
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies such as tracking MPG, returns, and damages
  • Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets
  • Align day-to-day activities with location safety strategies and conduct safety observations
  • Maintain communication, training, feedback and ensure safe performance
  • Understand and exceed location-specific customer goals and objectives
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Plan work assignments for effective use of fleet equipment
  • Collaborate with vendors and Penske Truck Leasing for equipment maintenance
  • Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned
