The Operations Supervisor role at Penske Logistics offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, team-oriented leader to oversee driver operations at one of Penske's locations. This position is integral to ensuring that daily logistics processes, including driver deliveries, trailer loading and unloading, and customer service operations, are executed efficiently and aligned with company goals. The supervisor will provide critical operational leadership, supervising people, systems, equipment, and workflows to meet customer expectations and internal performance standards. This role is full-time, with scheduled work hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, requiring flexibility during peak seasons and business needs.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for monitoring productivity, managing personnel performance, and fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and customer focus. This position also involves close collaboration with truck leasing partners and vendors to ensure fleet maintenance and optimal equipment usage. The role requires hands-on leadership, including disciplinary actions up to written warnings, involvement in hiring, and direct engagement with associates to promote motivation, team accomplishments, and coaching. Candidates must be experienced in driving process improvements, managing overtime, complying with financial policies, and ensuring operational safety in alignment with regulatory standards.

Job Duties

  • Establish and sustain training and competency among supervisors and associates
  • communicate specific and measurable performance standards
  • interview hourly associates and provide hiring recommendations
  • monitor attendance, productivity, and performance standards
  • provide coaching and counseling to associates
  • motivate and engage associates through recognition and team accomplishments
  • supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, and documentation control
  • conduct team meetings
  • recommend changes to increase productivity
  • assist in new associate training
  • provide relief coverage for operational duties as needed
  • maintain operational compliance and manage exception resolution
  • complete necessary records and reports accurately and timely
  • ensure compliance with financial policies including tracking MPG, returns, and damages
  • understand the impact of decision-making on profitability
  • manage working hours and activities to minimize overtime
  • align daily management and associate activities with location safety strategy
  • provide safety communication, training, and feedback
  • ensure regulatory and company policy compliance
