The Operations Supervisor - Transportation position is based in Baltimore, USA, and offers a competitive salary range of $62,000 to $72,000 per year. This is an on-site role requiring a hands-on approach in a fast-paced transportation and production environment. The primary focus of this role is to oversee and manage a team dedicated to delivering a quality product—specifically ensuring the timely and accurate production and catering of all flights. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, outgoing individual with a strong focus on safety and employee engagement. They will monitor and support team members in safety and performance initiatives, ensuring compliance with all relevant government regulatory standards including the FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and HACCP.

Key responsibilities include organizing, staffing, and directing the area of responsibility to meet delivery timelines without compromising safety or quality. The Operations Supervisor will conduct daily meetings with their workgroup to maintain clear communication and coordination, manage labor productivity and overtime targets, and document and follow up on all departmental processes to foster continuous improvement. Leadership is a core aspect of the role, including guiding and motivating staff according to human resources policies and company values, managing productivity hours and costs, and supporting company initiatives such as Quality programs, Lean Manufacturing, and Employee Safety systems.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge, plus one to three years of related work experience. They must demonstrate excellent problem-solving and leadership skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and the capability to lead others effectively to achieve productivity goals. Familiarity with OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. Exceptional verbal, written, and organizational skills are required to multitask efficiently and meet the demands of a dynamic work environment.

Job Duties

  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed and that all delivery times are being met timely
  • conduct daily work group meetings
  • schedule and control staff to meet labour productivity and overtime targets
  • ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HACCP
  • document and follow up on all department processes in order to implement improvements
  • ensure on-time and accurate production and/or catering of all flights
  • monitor and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • other duties as deemed necessary
  • guide, motivate and develop staff within the Human Resources policies
  • make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s)
  • manage productivity hours and costs in the area of responsibility
  • initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
  • participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Quality, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety and Production systems
