Job Description
This hiring company is a well-established organization operating in the transportation and logistics sector. Known for its dedication to efficient freight handling and customer service, the company plays a critical role in the movement and delivery of goods. The business maintains a robust infrastructure including dock operations, pickup and delivery (P&D) services, and road dispatch activities. With a commitment to safety, productivity, and quality service, the company has cultivated a professional, dynamic work environment that supports employee growth and operational excellence. They emphasize compliance with government regulations and industry best practices, ensuring that their operations meet high standards for security and loss prevention. This environment offers candidates an opportunity to work within a respected transportation enterprise known for its systematic approach to freight management and customer satisfaction.
The role of Operations Supervisor (Part-Time) is pivotal within the company’s operational framework. This position requires overseeing and actively participating in multiple aspects of freight operations including dock management, pickup and delivery, and road dispatch. The supervisor will be directly responsible for ensuring that customer service standards are met, productivity goals are achieved, and freight is handled with the utmost care to prevent claims and damages. An essential part of the role involves managing safety standards in alignment with company policies and government regulations such as those set by the Transportation Federal Framework (TFF).
The Operations Supervisor will lead a team of employees, managing their schedules, performance, and productivity to meet planned targets for load averages, cube utilization, and service benchmarks. This supervisory role also includes implementing security and loss prevention procedures to safeguard company assets and freight. The supervisor will coordinate with Central Dispatch to create efficient freight movement plans and ensure service centers meet their operational goals effectively.
Not only does the supervisor plan and direct daily operations, but they also prepare actionable plans to enhance the overall service center performance. This involves analyzing operational data, adjusting schedules according to hourly planning and the TFF run bid process, and ensuring that customer service expectations are exceeded consistently. Given the part-time nature of this position, the ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility to work varied shifts up to five days per week, adapting to the dynamic demands of transportation logistics.
This role suits individuals with previous experience in dock operations or supervision within the transportation industry, although this is preferred and not strictly mandatory. Candidates must meet basic qualifications including authorization to work in the U.S., a minimum age of 18, and a high school diploma or equivalent. By joining this company as an Operations Supervisor, the individual becomes an integral part of a team committed to operational excellence, safety, and superior customer service in the transportation sector.
