The role of Operations Supervisor is pivotal within OVG’s organizational framework, focused on the efficient coordination and supervision of event setup and operational staff to ensure successful venue management. This position reports to the Operations Manager or Director of Event Operations and carries the responsibility of overseeing comprehensive event operations, including managing changeover crews and facility services. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3+ years experience in an operations position in arena, convention center, public assembly facility or similar location
  • Knowledge of setup, housekeeping, and event coordination
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Self-motivated with organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Availability for long hours including varied schedule of days, nights, weekends, holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3+ years experience in operations for arena, convention center, or similar facility with setup, housekeeping, and event coordination knowledge
  • Advanced degree in Facility Management or related field may substitute for experience
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel preferred
  • Ability to lead a team effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements
  • Forklift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Clear and concise communication ability

Job Duties

  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of all venues and exhibition and convention spaces
  • Interview, select, train, coach, evaluate, and discipline full- and part-time staff, delivering terminations with approval
  • Deliver and follow up on Performance Improvement procedures timely
  • Ensure staff adherence to safety guidelines and compliance
  • Manage operational setup parameters for events and staging
  • Lead and coordinate staff training and safety programs
  • Mentor and coach employees to correct deficiencies and manage disciplinary processes
  • Assist or lead planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing work plans for facility operations
  • Review and understand event documents to forecast staffing and equipment needs
  • Participate in budget development, monitor expenditures, and recommend improvements
  • Coordinate facility arrangements with concessionaires and AV
  • Oversee changeover and housekeeping crews and provide support
  • Schedule changeover and housekeeping crews accurately and notify employees of updates
  • Maintain departmental equipment and report repair needs
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned
