The Operations Supervisor position at Forward Air Complete is a full-time role offering a competitive salary of $75,000 per year. The work schedule runs Monday through Friday, from 4 am to 1 pm, catering to the operational needs of the transportation and logistics sector. This role is integral to the smooth running of the Complete Cartage team, acting as a leader and mentor to a group of Regional Carrier Specialists. The Operations Supervisor holds accountability for the performance and development of their team, which includes providing timely feedback, managing communication channels, and overseeing training and disciplinary actions. They are also responsible for resource management, working collaboratively with sales and operations management, customers, and other field personnel to optimize operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor encompass ongoing personal and team training to enhance industry knowledge and supervisory skills. The supervisor ensures the completion and accurate reporting of all operational duties and key performance indicators (KPIs), while also actively engaging in problem-solving to meet or exceed these metrics. They oversee the onboarding process and continuous development of Regional Carrier Specialists, ensuring that the department schedules align with budgetary constraints and operational demands. Cultivating a professional department culture is a priority, with emphasis on promoting accountability and high standards.

The role also requires the Operations Supervisor to coordinate daily duty coverage and manage escalations, transforming challenges into opportunities for product and process improvement as well as customer loyalty enhancement. Financial responsibilities include ensuring timely and precise reconciliation, accounts payable, and receivable processes. The supervisor is tasked with arranging resources dynamically to accommodate special business volumes, holidays, and weather-related disruptions. Furthermore, they act as a liaison for IT and procedural improvements, participating in the design and documentation of process guides to foster continual operational enhancements. The Operations Supervisor role is multifaceted and essential to maintaining Forward Air Complete's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong technical and mathematical skills
  • Proven track record in managing and developing teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours
  • Proficiency with AS400 and Microsoft Office applications

Job Duties

  • Resolve escalations to improve product, person, or process
  • Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation and financial processes
  • Arrange resources for special business needs, holidays, and weather impacts
  • Communicate IT and procedural needs and participate in design
  • Perform other assigned duties
