The Operations Supervisor - Cold Food Production role is a critical leadership position within the SkyChefs facility located near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. This onsite role offers a competitive salary ranging from $57,000 to $71,000 annually and operates on a schedule of five consecutive working days followed by two days off. Flexibility is essential as the role requires working non-traditional hours including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of a 24/7, 365-day operation. The Supervisor oversees the end-to-end production, assembly, and quality control of all cold food products in a high-volume airline catering environment. Managing a frontline team of approximately 25 to 30 employees, the Supervisor ensures efficient workflows, timely production, adherence to safety and sanitation standards, and alignment with customer specifications. The position emphasizes fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include organizing staffing, conducting daily work meetings, scheduling labor, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, and HACCP, and driving initiatives to enhance productivity and safety. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge
- 2+ years supervisory experience in high volume food production, catering or manufacturing or large kitchen
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge required
- 2+ years supervisory experience working in a high volume food production, catering or manufacturing environment or large kitchen experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to lead a team of 20+ union, hourly workers per shift
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results and achieve productivity goals
- Working knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
Job Duties
- Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed, and that all delivery times are being met timely
- Conduct daily work group meetings
- Schedule and control staff to meet labour productivity and overtime targets
- Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HACCP
- Document and follow up on all department processes in order to implement improvements
- Ensure on-time and accurate production and/or catering of all flights
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
