Job Description
Marriott International is a leading global hospitality company renowned for its commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction. With a rich portfolio of brands, Marriott provides exceptional lodging experiences to travelers worldwide. One of the standout brands under its umbrella is Courtyard, a hotel specifically designed for business travelers. Courtyard empowers its guests by providing comfort, convenience, and amenities that cater to both work and relaxation needs. This focus on enhancing the traveler?s experience has made Courtyard a preferred choice among professionals seeking a business-friendly lodging environment.
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Courtyard hotel at 6023 Park South Dr operates with a strong dedication to customer service and guest satisfaction. As part of Marriott International, this Courtyard location is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive workplace that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company actively promotes an environment where the diverse backgrounds and talents of its associates are celebrated and nurtured. Marriott International also adheres to equal opportunity employment practices, ensuring no discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
This particular role is a full-time, non-management position within the Rooms and Guest Services Operations department. The hourly pay range is from $17.50 to $18.00, and it is a tip-eligible position with additional service charge compensation. This job requires availability on weekends and holidays, and flexible shift scheduling is encouraged to maintain operational efficiency. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Rooms Operations supervisor to assist with sales and service duties.
As a Front Desk associate at Courtyard, your primary responsibility is to ensure a seamless and welcoming experience for guests from the moment they arrive. You will complete designated cashier reports and closing reports using the hotel?s computer system, as well as review employee shift logs and daily memo books to document pertinent information. Your role involves responding promptly to guest requests, inquiries, or concerns by coordinating with appropriate departments such as bell services or housekeeping.
You will manage guest check-in procedures by validating reservations in the system, verifying guest identities, processing payments, assigning rooms, and distributing and activating room keys. Selling rooms to walk-in guests based on availability is part of your responsibilities, ensuring that rates are consistent with market standards and all exceptions are thoroughly documented. Additionally, you will handle charges from various points of sale, including the gym or retail store, efficiently posting them to guest accounts.
Supporting hotel management includes assisting with staff training, evaluations, coaching, discipline, motivation, and serving as a role model and initial contact for the company?s open door and fair treatment policies. Reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions is also essential, along with complying with all company policies regarding uniform, personal appearance, confidentiality, and asset protection.
Delivering exceptional guest service is at the core of your daily duties. This includes greeting all guests according to company standards, anticipating and fulfilling their service needs, expressing genuine appreciation, and accommodating guests with disabilities. Clear and professional communication, proper phone etiquette, fostering positive workplace relationships, and ensuring adherence to quality standards are critical components of this role.
Physical demands include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and safely moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Additional reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors as required.
Joining Courtyard means becoming part of a small yet ambitious team passionate about continuous improvement and guest satisfaction. As a member of Marriott International?s global family, you will have opportunities to grow, develop your skills, and become your best self while contributing to the renowned hospitality experience Marriott is known for.
