This opportunity is based within the TJ Maxx Distribution Center located in Evansville, USA. The role is a leadership position responsible for managing a department's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and safety while meeting or surpassing daily production targets. The department manager plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality service and fostering a motivated, engaged workforce. Spending a significant portion of the shift on the floor, the manager will supervise associates directly, guide work flow, allocate resources efficiently, and promote a safe work environment.

The position demands strong leadership skills, including the ability to develop and motivate a diverse team of over 20 associates, and to maintain high morale in alignment with the company's culture. The manager will liaise effectively with various internal stakeholders such as counterparts, peers, management, union representatives, human resources, loss prevention, and transportation teams to streamline operations and improve communication flow.

This role also focuses heavily on continuous improvement, requiring the manager to regularly evaluate current practices and make recommendations to enhance departmental productivity and overall effectiveness. The role comes with a competitive salary range starting from $61,000 up to $79,700 annually, depending on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four to six years of management experience in a similar environment
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams of 20 or more associates
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in coaching and developing staff
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills
  • Ability to support multiple shifts
  • Conflict resolution and team motivation capabilities

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing diverse teams of 20 or more associates
  • Four to six years of experience
  • High school graduate college preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Strong communication coaching development math and PC skills
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict
  • Ability to provide feedback and develop other leaders
  • Availability to support multiple shifts

Job Duties

  • Manages day to day activity within department including planning flow and resource allocation
  • Develops and motivates associates and ensures morale is at a high level while maintaining company culture
  • Builds effective relationships with business partners such as counterparts peers management Union Human Resources Loss Prevention and Transportation
  • Effectively communicates with associates counterparts peers and management to provide for a more efficient operation
  • Ensures that area meets all requirements for Safety and Housekeeping
  • Ensures constant improvement by reviewing practices methods and processes and makes recommendations on opportunities to improve
