The position available at Gate Gourmet is that of a Full-Time Food Production Supervisor, based in the USA, with an annual salary range between $60,000 and $64,000. This supervisory role is a critical component of the company’s operational leadership, responsible for overseeing over thirty food production employees in a unionized, fast-paced environment. The supervisor ensures that all food production meets quality assurance standards, adheres to safety protocols, complies with HACCP, USDA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements, and follows internal company policies. Additionally, this role includes managing labor and material costs and maintaining detailed records related to production, safety, and compliance. The Food Production Supervisor is integral to maintaining the smooth functioning and efficiency of the food production unit, working closely with management teams to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and ensure employee retention and productivity. This role also requires hands-on leadership, coaching, and training of staff to meet performance goals and maintain a positive working environment. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and leadership skills, a commitment to safety and quality standards, and the ability to manage both operational details and team dynamics effectively. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a related environment
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of 30+ unionized employees
  • Knowledge of HACCP, USDA and FDA food safety regulations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to train employees and deliver constructive feedback
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Willingness to comply with company policies and union agreements
  • Ability to work full-time during normal business hours
  • Legal authorization to work in the USA.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree preferred
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in high volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to manage 30+ employees
  • Experience with labor relations a plus
  • Skilled in training and providing feedback to employees
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills
  • Innovative and capable of implementing operational improvements
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi or Polish a plus.

Job Duties

  • Ensures quality production standards are followed and maintained
  • Ensures employees adhere to HACCP, FDA, USDA and safety regulations and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Prepares management reports such as attendance, HACCP and labor as required
  • Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures
  • Ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards are accurate according to airline specifications
  • Ensures products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures
  • Conducts inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste
  • Completes required requisitions for the storeroom to ensure adequate supply is maintained
  • Maintains daily temperature logs and other reports as required
  • Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and reports maintenance and repair issues timely
  • Controls material cost and other controllable costs
  • Maintains financial goals related to productivity, overtime, labor goals and hours per flight
  • Works with management staff to improve unit performance
  • Manages workflow balancing among employees on each shift
  • Determines staffing needs such as calling in employees for sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves or volume changes
  • Ensures compliance with wage and hour policy including rest and meal breaks
  • Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures
  • Monitors daily manpower planning and employee scheduling
  • Focuses on employee retention and reducing turnover
  • Coaches, counsels and prepares corrective actions for employees in compliance with union agreements
  • Reviews employees' cost centers and job titles
  • Ensures union employees’ pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority
  • Complies with all company required policies, procedures and training.
