The Operations Supervisor role is a full-time, salaried, exempt position within the Operations department. This key supervisory role involves coordinating operational activities to guarantee the readiness and smooth operation of events held at a premier convention and performing arts center. The Operations Supervisor assists with scheduling, overseeing conversions and changeovers of the venue space, managing inventory of tools and equipment, and ensuring compliance with all safety and operational procedures. The position requires close collaboration with other event departments and contractors to secure needed labor and manage logistics effectively. Supervisory responsibilities include leading full-time and part-time operations staff as well as custodial personnel to maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency both inside and outside the venue.
The ideal candidate is well-versed in operational processes and practices specific to large venues and event environments. They must possess a keen sense of timing and planning to execute tasks within tight event schedules. Responsibilities emphasize not only managing people and resources but also problem-solving operational issues and continuously seeking improvements with the Operations Manager. Strong organizational skills, the ability to communicate clearly, and solid written and verbal communication skills are essential. In addition, the candidate must be adept at prioritizing multiple projects and working both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is important, with familiarity in AutoCAD and Maintenance Manager software considered beneficial.
This position involves physical demands such as standing for long hours during events, moving around the facility, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role also requires operating motor vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, trucks, golf carts, pallet jacks, and aerial lifts safely and efficiently. A valid Class E driver’s license is mandatory prior to appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. The work environment can feature high noise levels and occasional exposure to bodily fluids, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from technical college with major in management or maintenance engineering preferred
- Minimum one year of supervisor experience required
- Valid Class E Driver's License prior to appointment and must be maintained
- Ability to operate motor vehicles with a gross weight of 26,000 pounds
- Ability to read blueprints or other diagrams
- Ability to operate equipment such as light trucks, forklifts, golf carts, pallet jacks, and aerial lifts
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively supervise staff
- Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Assist in preparation of the weekly schedule for operations staff and changeover crews
- Coordinate operations activities with event departments and contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth event operation
- Oversee and work the conversions and changeovers of the convention center to ensure effective and efficient transitions
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory of building tools, machinery, cleaning supplies and equipment
- Ensure compliance with laws, codes, policies, safety precautions, and emergency procedures
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints
- Develop and implement storage plans for excess and storable items such as seats and machinery
- Supervise full-time and part-time operations employees and custodial personnel
- Collaborate with Operations Manager on construction, renovations, equipment changes, and purchases
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness inside and outside the arena and mechanical areas
- Direct and motivate staff to ensure high job performance and morale
- Conduct meetings with operation staff to outline daily and weekly tasks
- Apply knowledge of timing and operational practices to guarantee successful event execution
- Evaluate work procedures and facility-wide operations and recommend improvements
- Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms
- Perform all other assigned duties
