The Operations Manager at Deaconess Henderson Sportsplex plays a critical leadership role by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery. This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for managing multiple departments including maintenance, housekeeping, retail operations, the adventure/climbing area, food and beverage services, and event management. The role also encompasses front desk administration and reporting, requiring a detail-oriented approach to administrative duties.

This position demands a highly organized and experienced professional capable of hiring, training, and scheduling staff to maintain the high standards expected by the company. The Operations Manager acts as the primary contact for contracted events and is deeply involved in event development, both in-house and in partnership with external collaborators. Additionally, the manager assists with sponsorship sales and negotiates contracts with vendors, fostering positive working relationships to support operational excellence.

Critical to this role is the responsibility of serving as Manager-on-Duty (MOD), ensuring facility health and safety, managing quality control, overseeing expense management, security, and facility maintenance. Cash handling procedures and compliance with company policies and applicable laws also fall under the purview of the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the facility’s business planning and execution, with oversight over the Operations and Food and Beverage departments.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, or related field

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Hiring and training facility team members
  • Oversee front-line team members to ensure compliance with SFC policies and additional applicable laws
  • Oversee the administration and high level of detail required in the organization of birthday parties and events
  • Serve as primary contact for all events after they have been contracted
  • Develop events in-house and co-partnerships
  • Assist with sponsorship sales as needed
  • Serve as manager-on-duty (MOD)
  • Negotiate and produce contracts for relevant vendors building good working relationships
  • Maintain close liaison and communication with other departments including marketing and sales
  • Manage health and safety, quality control, expense management, security, procedures, and facility maintenance
  • Oversee proper cash handling procedures
  • Hire, train, and educate staff on proper event and safety procedures
  • Ensure staff is prepared for events
  • Contribute to facility business plan and execution
  • Manage operations and food and beverage department
  • Ensure all certifications are updated and renewed on time
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by management
