Job Description
The Nellis Inn, located on Nellis Air Force Base (AFB) in Nevada, is a key hospitality establishment within the Air Force's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program. As part of the non-appropriated fund (NAF) activities, the Nellis Inn prides itself on providing quality lodging services to military personnel, their families, and other authorized guests. Operated under the stringent guidelines and standards of the United States Air Force and Space Force, the Nellis Inn maintains a high level of excellence in guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and facility management. Its strategic location on Nellis AFB ensures that it supports both military readiness and quality of life for its patrons.
This role involves serving as a supervisor for a substantial team of NAF employees responsible for the daily operations related to lodging maintenance, motor vehicle management, linen exchange, and logistical services. The position is classified as a full-time, permanent employment opportunity, offering a guaranteed 40-hour workweek along with competitive benefits. Salary for this position ranges from $25.26 to $59.66 per hour, corresponding to the NF-4 pay scale and grade level.
The supervisory responsibilities are diverse and encompass oversight of lodging operations involving 800 or more rooms and units. This includes managing maintenance requests by writing, coordinating, and tracking AF Form 332 Base Civil Engineer Work Requests to ensure timely completion. Additionally, the role requires guaranteeing that all safety inspections related to fire extinguisher maintenance, preventive upkeep, OSHA compliance, and other mandated checks are current and documented accurately. The supervisor conducts regular inspections of lodging facilities, encompassing guest rooms, public areas, grounds, and equipment, to identify and address minor plumbing issues, electrical discrepancies, sanitation concerns, or surface deterioration such as paint problems.
Oversight extends to the upkeep of lodging vehicles, ensuring routine inspections and minor maintenance tasks are completed to maintain operational readiness. Inventory management is a critical component of the role; establishing and maintaining minimum stock levels for expendable supplies and guest amenities is vital to prevent work interruptions. Security protocols for high-value items that are prone to pilferage also fall under the supervisor's purview.
This position requires leadership skills to assign, direct, and review the work of subordinate staff members while evaluating their performance. Effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of work operations are essential to solve issues that arise in the lodging services environment. The supervisor must assess completed work for quality assurance, provide initial and ongoing training to employees, and ensure that management policies and goals are understood and supported by the team.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals who meet residency requirements and pass a background suitability investigation. The role does not allow for education substitution, emphasizing the importance of progressive experience in military or civilian lodging programs, personnel supervision, and knowledge of supply and vehicle maintenance. Strong communication skills—both oral and written—are critical for success in this position, as is the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups to achieve work objectives.
This is a non-telework eligible position with no relocation expenses reimbursed, based at Nellis AFB, NV. Candidates who are committed to improving government efficiency and upholding the ideals of the American Republic are encouraged to apply. The hiring process includes evaluation of resumes, supporting documents, and questionnaire responses, with an emphasis on accuracy and completeness of application materials. The Nellis Inn offers a meaningful career opportunity within a well-established federal program dedicated to serving military communities with professionalism and dedication.
