The Residence Inn Franklin, located at 4 Forge Parkway, Franklin, Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team. The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in planning and directing daily operations to improve productivity and efficiency within the hotel. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic hospitality environment under the esteemed Highgate brand.

The Operations Manager will assist the Director and Assistant Director of Front Office in managing front office operations, while also providing cross-departmental support to Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering teams. They will maintain a strong lobby presence to support front desk agents and guests, ensuring all operations within the lobby, mezzanine, and food and beverage areas meet Paramount standards regarding cleanliness, security, and guest services. The role involves balancing hotel room inventory, monitoring upsell programs, responding to guests’ special requests and complaints, and ensuring efficient shift coverage across departments as needed. Additionally, this role requires managing employee payroll, tracking attendance, conducting overtime call-arounds, and performing coaching, training, and disciplinary actions for hourly associates.

The Operations Manager is also responsible for performing some Night Audit functions, preparing and distributing operational reports, and participating in meetings to foster favorable working relationships and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency among staff. Given the complexities of the position, it requires someone capable of multitasking, prioritizing functions effectively, and communicating efficiently at all levels from employees to guests. Candidates must be committed to maintaining high standards of personal appearance, adhering to Highgate hotel standards and regulations, and handling all challenges with professionalism and discretion. This role demands long hours at times, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly. Job Requirements

  • A 2-year college degree with a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience or a 4-year degree with at least 1 year of progressive experience
  • Must be able to work long hours as required
  • Sedentary work with ability to exert up to 10 pounds occasionally
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of employees and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand and clarify concerns
  • Multitasking and prioritization skills
  • Adherence to Highgate hotel standards including regular attendance and personal grooming
  • Ability to handle problems including anticipating, preventing and solving issues
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex data

Job Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Previous supervisory responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets and word processing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner

Job Duties

  • Assist the Director and Assistant Director of Front Office with managing the front office operation
  • Provide support to other departments in the hotel including Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering
  • Provide strong lobby presence to assist front desk agents and guests
  • Ensure all areas of the lobby, mezzanine level and Food & Beverage operations meet Paramount standards including cleanliness and guest area security
  • Balance the hotel room type inventory
  • Monitor and action the Nor 1 upsell program
  • Handle guests’ special requests and customer complaints
  • Perform front desk duties and responsibilities
  • Investigate and handle complaints, disturbances, emergencies during shift
  • Manage employee payroll, track attendance and conduct call-arounds for overtime
  • Coach, train, counsel hourly associates and administer discipline
  • Perform some Night Audit functions and produce related reports
  • Prepare, copy and distribute reports as required
  • Attend and contribute to periodic meetings to maintain positive relationships and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in Manager on Duty coverage as required
