The Operations Manager role at Sonesta International Hotels is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing daily hotel operations such as front desk management, food service, housekeeping, and administrative functions. This role directly contributes to the overall success of the hotel by achieving key performance objectives related to guest satisfaction, efficiency, and quality control. Operations Managers are tasked with preparing the hotel for daily business activity and ensuring all departments work harmoniously to deliver the brand promise of excellent hospitality.

This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage and inspire multiple teams while controlling costs and maintaining the quality standards Sonesta is known for. The Operations Manager will be accountable for training staff, overseeing front office and reservation activities, managing accounts receivable, and monitoring housekeeping and food and beverage operations. This includes ensuring guest rooms and public spaces meet cleanliness and maintenance standards and that inventory and supplies are well-managed.

The role also entails budgeting and financial reporting, employee recruitment and training, implementing service recovery procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The Operations Manager acts as a representative of the management team during events and maintains effective communication across shifts and departments to promote teamwork and operational excellence. The pay range for this position is between $70,000 and $72,000, with compensation varying depending on an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hotel administration, business administration or related field preferred
  • two years of previous supervisory experience preferred
  • previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills
  • mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
  • problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
  • ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • ability to travel including some overnight travel is required
  • valid driver’s license required
  • frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all guest interactions
  • manage front office and reservation functions ensuring superior guest service and security of transactions
  • prepare month end financial reports and manage accounts receivables
  • oversee housekeeping and laundry functions to maintain quality and brand standards
  • manage food and beverage operations including inventory control and guest satisfaction
  • implement hiring, training, and performance management for staff
  • ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations
  • resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally
  • promote teamwork and quality service through communication and coordination
  • act as manager on duty as required
  • attend and represent management at hotel events
  • enforce hotel policies and standards
  • monitor and control department expenses
  • manage technology equipment use within departments
  • maintain purchasing and supply management processes
  • perform additional assigned duties.
