Job Description

Plum Market Food Service operates a vibrant food bar located within Eppley Airfield, a major airport terminal that serves as a key hub for travelers. This Operations Manager role is a pivotal, full-time, exempt leadership position responsible for overseeing and driving all operational activities at the Eppley Airfield Plum Market food bar. The person hired will be directly responsible for ensuring exceptional guest service, operational excellence, and a strong financial performance across all facets of the food bar's operations. They will manage a diverse team of frontline employees and supervisors while maintaining compliance with airport-specific regulations as well as corporate policies.

The Operations Manager must effectively lead a high-energy team to deliver the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role requires a proactive and hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where adaptability and strong organizational skills are essential. Developing and motivating team members to ensure consistent and elevated service delivery is critical to success. The manager will also oversee inventory control, scheduling, training initiatives, and labor management to optimize operational efficiency.

In this role, the manager will partner closely with the Director and other leadership personnel to support multiple food and beverage outlets within the airport, including restaurants, bars, grab-and-go stations, and catering services. The position requires strict adherence to TSA regulations, local health and safety laws, and airport operational protocols. They will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment that complies with all airport standards while driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Additionally, the Operations Manager will monitor and manage financial performance by focusing on key metrics such as margins, labor costs, waste reduction, and inventory accuracy. They will utilize their analytical skills to develop strategies for maximizing profitability while maintaining high-quality service. The ability to resolve guest concerns expertly and maintain positive relationships with vendors, airport partners, and team members is essential.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience in food service, retail, or hospitality
  • Proven success managing high-volume operations and leading diverse teams
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of inventory systems, basic financial reports, and food safety practices
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain airport badging
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Experience working in an airport or fast paced environment
  • ServSafe or equivalent certification
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale and back-office systems

Job Duties

  • Support the Director in managing the day-to-day operations across all food and beverage outlets including restaurants, bars, grab-and-go stations, and catering services
  • Lead frontline and supervisory teams to ensure operational consistency, service quality, and compliance across all departments
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and training to support productivity and guest satisfaction
  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures aligned with company standards and airport regulations
  • Ensure all operations comply with TSA, local health department, and labor laws
  • Oversee daily operations of the food bar, ensuring smooth, efficient, and guest-focused service
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team through training, motivation, and accountability
