The role of Supervisor, Service Center at TForce Freight is a critical leadership position responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations within the company's Service Centers. This role focuses on analyzing operational data to evaluate productivity, service, and quality performance, enabling the team to meet or exceed set business targets. The Supervisor works closely with the Service Center management team to develop and implement effective action plans aimed at improving service levels and operational efficiencies. This position demands a proactive leader who is adept at managing staff, fostering strong labor relations, and promoting a culture of safety and quality.

In this capacity, the Supervisor is entrusted with overseeing the workforce within the Service Center, guiding staff performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and labor agreements. The role encompasses responsibilities such as participating in hiring and promotion decisions, facilitating training sessions including new hire orientations, and conducting safety and quality training to maintain high standards. Performance management through evaluations and resolving any workforce issues also form a significant component of this position. The Supervisor plays a pivotal role in building and maintaining positive labor relations by engaging with unionized employees and labor officials to address concerns effectively.

This position is ideal for individuals with strong communication and leadership skills who have a background or interest in transportation or logistics operations. Previous experience in dock operations and supervisory roles within the transportation industry will be advantageous. Education qualifications are flexible, requiring at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent, though a Bachelor's Degree or international equivalent is preferred. Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent
  • Strong communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree (or internationally comparable degree) - preferred
  • Previous dock operations experience - preferred
  • Supervisory experience in the transportation industry - preferred

Job Duties

  • Work with other managers to coordinate hiring and promotion decisions
  • Work with other managers to ensure adherence to labor agreements and address grievances
  • Participate in new hire orientation meetings and conduct safety and quality training
  • Determine employee training needs and provide feedback and support
  • Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issue
  • Build labor relations by interacting with labor officials and unionized employees and addressing and resolving requests and situations
  • Coach and develop others using career development processes and tools
